Thanks all the same, Jen, but we've got a taxi booked - ( unless he asks for an extortionate deposit against possible damage to his upholstery !! )

Thanks for that Nasher, just hope I can follow it.

There are drivers, cr4p drivers and then ME.

Blame the Mrs as per usual if we get lost

Don't worry, Robby - if you miss Albufeira there are still some gorgeous places to the West ( and you can use the 100 euro deposit you save on drink & food !! )

Just an update on the deposit situation. I,too, have just been speaking to someone who has just returned from the Paraiso - not asked at any time for a 100 euro deposit.

Thanks Sagres,

I,m going into the town tomorrow, will pop into the travel agents to pay something off my holiday and while I am there I will have something to say about the deposit information I was given the other day

Did you friend pass any comments on about the hotel?

Jen,
It wasn't a friend - I was in a queue at the bank and was "earwigging" a conversation; when I heard the name "Paraiso" I asked about the deposit, but the person's turn to be served arrived and I couldn't persue the conversation any further.

Hi Sarges,

You are not going to let me forget that post are you.

Are you going self catering or all inc at Christmas?

Bye Jen xxx

I can say, in all honesty, that no other post on H.T. has made such an impression on me; when I first read it I almost fell off my chair and I'm only now managing to convince myself that, hopefully, it was just a nasty rumour.
We're going A/I for Christmas; normally we go to the Algarve S/C or B/B as the food in the restaurants is so good, but didn't know how much of Albufeira would be open at Christmas and didn't want to risk walking the streets looking for Christmas dinner.

Hi Sarges,

When reading youtr post I brust out laughing, not that I would like to see you hurt yourself over a post.

I agree good idea to go all inc when not knowing if anywhere is open at Christmas. Not long now I envy you I have to wait until August.

Well I hope you have a merry Christmas and you enjoy yourself, not too much misletoe mind.

Thanks Jen and have a good Christmas yourself. I'll post a review on my return. It will either be full of :swear 's or a huge anti-climax, hopefully the latter.

Jen,
We're flying out on the 20th December. Why? - were you thinking of coming out to give us some moral support?

Hi Sarges,

I.m sure you will be ok with out me being there to back you up (if there is one post I wish I had'nt made it is that one)

I was just being nosey about when you fly. Have you e-mailed Santa to let him know where you will be on xmas eve? don.t forget to take a carrot for the reindeer.

Is the Algarve very expensive or on par with England? is it better to take a small amount of euros with you and change your money when you get there or change your money before you go?

Hi jen,
Yes, I've e-mailed Santa; I've told him that all I want for Christmas this year is for people who contact me on H.T to spell my usermame correctly   !!
We find the Algarve, generally speaking, cheaper than the U.K. but, obviously, if you stay in hotels you're going to be paying higher prices anyway.
This will probably open up a can of worms as there are diffferent views on this in the Algarve forum, but we buy euros at home and take them with us, topping up if needed at an A.T.M. The only proviso is that you must have safety deposit facilities at your Portuguese accommodation as, otherwise, the risk outweighs the convenience.
P.S. As for the carrot - I'm not paying A/I prices and taking carrots out with me, Santa or no Santa !! :)

Hi Sagres, :wave

Sorry about that, my knees are getting sore with all this groveling.

Had a good laugh about the carrots.
