We have never had to pay anythignwhen booking direct with the hote, not even a deposit. I would defintey be wary about faxing over credit card details. Where is this hotel?

Hi,Kedi ,it is the Mavi deniz hotel in Turunc,we had an e mail back from him saying that in this instance he will take 2 days deposit but just because we complained about it.I've never had to fax credit card details before usually done online with secure site or tranferred money into their banks.

I wouldn't fax credit card details same as I wouldn't email them as it isn't secure. You could offer to do a bank transfer.

we ve booked direct loads of times and never had to pay all upfront. Id go with instinct and book another hotel, you must feel unsure to post on here, :think. if we pay a deposit ,we pay by bank transfer as you deal with their(the hotels) bank details. You dont want to worry about it, you should be looking foward to your holidays :sun2

We always book hotel independantly and we have never been asked for any money or card details. I would do as others have said and go to another hotel sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Dont do it, never send details or money, we have always gone diy and the only time we have ever been asked for deposit and payment up front was with British owned hotel, every other time we just pay when we arrive.
there are plenty of other hotels/aparts you can book with.
If you really want to go to that one write to them and say you do not want to send details or deposit, they wont turn down your booking, and if they do just go somewhere else, plenty to choose from, their loss.
Prob they are skint and need the money to do up the place or bogus.

We've never had to pay up front for hotels abroad either. Although we have occasionally had to give credit card details (on secure website).

I've been going to the same hotel since 2002 the first couple of years with Thomas Cook and then DIY, the first few years no deposit required, last year was the frst time they asked for a deposit £100, this year they asked for £200. I think they are concerned that people may let them down with the credit crunch hitting the UK.

I am the same as the others, do not fax over your credit card details.
