Manos Holidays have just phoned me to tell me that the holiday we are going on in 48 hours is now not available and we have to accept a refund or alternative accommodation of the Peninsular Hotel, although this is only a 2 Star, but we cannot find any info on this hotel. Can anyone help ?

You should just go though, it wont be that bad!!! If it is complain to Manos and then try finding your own accomodation when there if its that bad! Accomodation in goa is cheap anyway!

just had another thought! y noy take the refund and get a last minute deal? We got ours the other yeasr with jewel in the crown. I think there website is Also make sure that they are giving you like for like, otherwise you are entitled to compensation.

Thanks Kath but Manos do no know this hotel, apparently it has no website, they say there is no more accomodation left in Goa, they have offered 40 quid compensation, we paid 2020 pounds for 2 of us at the Nizmar, we might aswell have just had allocated on arrival for 500 pounds each. i am really upset at the moment when i should happy and looking forward to our holiday which i have just saved up for two years for. the hotel is apparently a two star when the nizmar is three, yet they say it is an equivalent swap, i suppose to get out of more compensation. I really dont know wether to cancel all together and forget my dreams or chance it, we are going on saturday and got everything ready.
It's really bad that Manos can't give you any information - if they have signed a contract with them, then surely they should be able to furnish you with some information.
If you decide to proceed with the holiday, then put it in writing to them that you accept the holiday 'under duress' and that if you are not happy or have a problem whilst there, that you 'reserve the right' to complain on your return.
Make sure that you lodge any complaints (hopefully you wont have any) with the rep in resort and if necessary take photographs and keep a record of everything.
I would suggest that you print out Ros Fernihoughs Safe & Sound Booklet from the top of the HT forum to check up on your rights.

Phil ... I'm afraid that I don't know Calangute, but I see that there is a property listed with a slightly different spelling - Peninsula Beach Resort Calangute. Any chance that be the one you are looking for, or have you already ruled it out ?
Thanks david, yes this seems to be the one, looks clean and tidy but not on the scale of the Nizmar, i will be on the phone at 9 am sharp to sort this mess out and hopefully armed with the advice from Ros the Travel Lawyer and Kath i should get some sort of recompence hopefully. We had the same thing happen to us last year with Manos - about 3 weeks before we were due to go. We had booked to go to Baga and then told that the hotel was no longer available. So having worked for a small tour operator many years ago and having some idea of why (ie perhaps they had not paid the hotel bills) our hotel had been changed I went into battle - as the alternative they had offered was way up past Anjuna and as neither my husband and I drive - thanks but no thanks! Anyway I went through the brochure and pulled about 3/4 hotels out of the brochure in Candolim/Calungute area and told them I would accept one of these at no extra cost (they were all more expensive)! They at first said I could only have the £20.00 deducted but I said no, no and no - it was their responsibility, I had paid etc etc - it was civilised but I stuck to my guns. After not too long was offered the Magnum Resort in Candolim at no extra charge (think it should have cost us both about £80.00 each) and although the hotel is not the Ritz the location and staff were great and in fact we decided that we liked Candolim better than Baga - as it was little too busy for us! Sad old gits!
Try my method - persuasive but polite - I have always found the staff at Manos very, very decent and helpful and hey the change worked for us - so I say go for it!
Plus, Manos did themselves a favour as since last December we also had a great 3 week summer saver deal in Greece this July with them
and have booked at the Magnum again for three weeks! Roll on Christmas Day....
Thanks everyone for your advice, we have recieved an email from manos holidays just now, they have refunded my credit card by 200 quid so far as gesture for inconvinience, and i got them to state in the email that i would only take the money under protest and that they understand that i will take this further upon my return. So we shall see what we get in the resort and take it from there, but we decided to go with it and try and not worry about it too much, so anyone off to Goa soon, we will see ya there.

We were booked for the Nizmar (with Thompson) for the end of December, and were told that the accommodation now isn't available. How can it be legal for tour operators to sell holidays, take your money, then change the accommodation after having sent confirmation through?
The Nizmar has over 100 rooms I would not be surprised if they have not taken a booking for a large party. When I was there nearly 3 years ago there was 2 large groups come for a few days at different times. One was at least 60 school children.

hi philfel ,can you tell us if you went to the peninsula beach ?Direct holidays have just done the same to us,we are in two minds as to go or not.we can take the flights & find accommodation when we get there.but its looking as nothing available.

Have booked a holiday with lastmin.com travelling this fri 18/3.. however they have changed our accomodation to the Peninsula Beach resort. I cannot find ANYTHING on this hotel whatso ever on the internet though! Has anyone been there before or heard of it?! It all sounds abit funny to me as i rung lastminute and they couldnt give me any info on it either or even an address for it to put on the visa application!? Please would appreciate any feedback on this at all..!! Thank you!
