Just waiting on taxi coming now and then we're off......hope the weather is better than here. It's freezing in Glasgow....heavy, heavy frost.....

Gorgeous there last week Pat; arrived on the Tuesday and literally didn't see a single cloud until the following Monday morning. Warm enough to spend time on the beach as well. Have a great time.
Have a great time Pat.
I am off out to Portugal again on Tuesday, we have rented a villa a little further out this time, past the albufeira marina, any updates on how the weather is looking? have checked different websites and they all predict rain! I hope not
It has rained all day today
Have a brilliant time all those lucky enough to be away
It is a nice sunny day today
Excellent - how's the costs working out btw with the € being what it is - (scary)
nice to hear the sun is shining, will be there early Tuesday morning so not so long now Can't wait, hope the sunshines prolongs its stay!
Glynis who would have ever thought 6 months ago that the pound would be equal to the euro, and possibility of it going less still. It will make things very expensive, will just have to drink & eat less I'm sure it wont spoil all these lucky people who are spending the festive season away in warmer climes, 3 weeks and counting
Jay - friends back from Benidorm this week said Ryanair announced on flight for passengers not to take notice of prices (marked in € & 3) in skyshop - and that a € was a £. Cup of tea £3.
So that would be about £80 a night for 14 nights without breakfast/lunches and drinks to factor in.
I'd love to go back to Lagos but might need to let thing normalise a bit, or possibly hire a villa and do a few barbies and salads, but I suppose the supermarket food is all dearer too.
It's certainly become more expensive even beyond the increase caused by the exchange rate. We bit the bullet and took the pain of the exchange rate, getting all our euros in the U.K. before leaving. Even so we found that, generally speaking, restaurant prices had risen by 4 to 5% between when we left Lagos in September and returned in December; not so much the main course dishes, we found, but the ancilliaries- couvert, starter and dessert accounted for the additional cost.
It's grey and cold here today.
Are there seasonal price fluctuations in the Algarve, like there are in some other tourist zones (thinking of Tukey, where everything goes up in April and down at end October apparently) or are prices pretty constant all year round ?
The only time that I've ever noticed any change in prices between high and low season is this year between August/September and our December visit last week; this was nothing to do with a seasonal variation but rather a result of the economic situation, I think.
My experience of prices only covers Lagos area and I can see some price variation according to season, but only a little in some places. I tend not to go to the tourist restaurants and the local ones don't change. Some of the restaurants close and some do specials like 2 meals for the price of one. I can still go to the Veranda bar in Burgau and get 2 lunches with drinks for 8 euros, the view is free.
... and worth €20 per hour of anybody's money !!!the view is free.
