Has anyone seen any detailed plans as to what is to happen to the to the beach area surrounding the Gran Arona and heading back to the port??
I agree with a number of previous posters its a bit down market in that particular part of los Chris and needs money pumping in to revitalise it.
In reality, not many people will agree with me on this forum, because i suspect many live there or would like to live there.
It does of course have some good points, the monkeypark was a very good attraction, also playa las vistas beach was very nice and spotlessly clean, and with the new port at granadilla and the new runway planned who knows may be it will be ok.
the jardines del sur complex is a mess we both know it. and of course people have to live somewhere but i see know difference between that and the tower blocks in hulme in the 1970's, hindsight is a wonderful thing but perhaps if a more stricter "cesar manrique" style of building and planning were in place the buildings would certainly look a lot more attractive.
we walked past a bar in el coronel down a passage with a sign saying "no children strictly for the pensioners" what a dump that looked, it had never ever been decorated and had cobwebs on the stool legs,
how could you possibly take your wife to a place like that, what a mess.
we have visited 4 times now each with around 3 year gap.
i just cant see why anyone would want to go there when for the same money you could go to alot nicer places.
Peter,is the dog still with us . We, like Peter, have been going for years and we will never tire of the place, whenever we go I always moan that we did not get around to doing everything we planned to do, as there is so much.
Peter, i suspect as you go so often you havent noticed the gradual decline, in the resort and the standards of service that that it offers to people.
Exactly the opposite my friend we see tremendous gains and improvements with every visit. Roll on 2008 et all.

I have been all over the world to all sorts of resorts and cities and could pick holes and faults with everyone of them even Paris, San Francisco, Athens, Madrid......in fact anywhere you care to name.
If you want to accentuate the negative and ignore the positives its easy...sad but easy IMHO.
I prefer to see the good things around me and so long as I can judge that problems are being addressed I applaud the efforts and look forward to seeing the rewards.
Q. if its so bad why do you return ?????
Carole Yes the dog is still there though there is some slight improvement. Mostly quiet during the day when we were there, just very noisy at night. This should be resolved once the court case is heard later this month.
the area only appears to have gone down since i last went,
i too have travelled all over the world and lived and worked in some truly awful places. but i wouldnt go on holiday in them, if your happy going back to their time after time good luck to you and our family i hope you enjoyed it a little better than i did.
As a matter of interest, does your wife enjoy Los Cristianos or does she has the same (very low) opinion of it as you?I only went a couple of weeks ago at my wifes insistance,
actuallly the kids were great they were making friends left right and centre.
have you seen holiday showdown tonight ?
have you seen holiday showdown tonight ?
May I point out that this thread is about Los Cristianos (please note the spelling!!). There is another thread regarding this programme as you know because you have posted in it. The only parts of Tenerife that the programme showed were the inside of bars & the waterpark which is not in LC.
we went to los cristianos las year and loved every minute of it . my dad used to live there until he died a few years ago , he lived in the margherita apartments , wnyone know them ?

I have not posted on here for some time but thought I would chip in on this one. I own on Victoriacourt2 and have done for a few years I also own on the new El Mirador Complex. I like Peter go regular to Tenerife. First off the area where j4ckos mate is talking about is unfortunately full of dog mess on the paths going down from VC2 to Mas a menos it has been for a few years this is unfortunately down to the locals who bring their dogs down from their apartments and let them mess on the paths around the supermarket. I counted 19 separate people while waiting for someone outside the supermarket who let their dogs mess. Not one cleared the mess up. This is very unfortunate as other people have commented about the improvements in LC. j4ckos mate you must have seen that the area behind VC2 and Graciosa have been worked on new planting and landscaping. This was also a dumping ground for the dog walkers but has now been cleared up. I think the authorities need to clamp down on this big time fine the culprits €200 a time. I don't know why people would have dogs in these small apartments anyway? Don't get me wrong I am not a dog hater.
The Promenade has looked tired for some time and did need doing up and I am pleased this is in progress. I was told that the Arona hotel had an agreement that if they built the hotel the beach would be done up, this has been talked about for years now hopefully this is going to happen.
When this is all done and the ferries are moved I will be able to sit at my favourite restaurant (Promenade bar) with the best ice cold beer in LC and think I have died and gone to heaven.
I have just returned last Friday 29th and the Promenade is well under way. The town looks good and plenty of improvements going on. Maurice was on form he offered me 6 camels for my wife it gets better every time she was worth only 5 last time when he gets to 10 she will have to go
El Mirador area is doing well with the new bars and restaurants.
i was begining to wonder if only positve views can be expressed on here.
whilst you have replied i have one quick question for you regarding vc 2
where does the money for the sunbeds go to?
i assumed it was to help for the running costs, then it occurred to me what savadors must pay, and STAR, and Llllehammer, and the food wholesalers underneath, i would have thought there rent and service charges would more than pay for the running costs or have i overlooked some of the costs to run a big complex like vc2
thanks.
VC2 is an older complex and we have had a lot of expense to pay out for new installation of the fire system also new walls/fence around pool going up now, painting of complex, re-grouting of pool etc etc. Also the pool is a large pool and is heated all year unlike most other complexes.
Hope this answers your questions.
The pubs you mentioned in your earlier post I have never been in, they are not my type of bar so would not go into. There are plenty of excellent places to go in LC and you will always get a mixture of different types just because it says €1.00 a pint doesn't mean I will go in!

Its not a question of Positive or Negative
but rather Specific and Accurate that are relevant.
I doubt very much if Marks post would be challenged at all... it being both specific and accurate...................
as opposed to the other somewhat random and inaccurate generalisations that have appeared earlier on this thread

In our complex the money is going to pay the attendants wages, and he will also double as a lifeguard.

Their offical title will be Pool Attendant. The duties will include issuing sunbeds and other pool equipment and to ensure pool rules are adhered to.
They cant be called Lifeguards (not qualified) and under present legislation, our pool being less than 1.5m deep, a Lifeguard is not actually a requirement.
They are however both qualified first aiders.
There are some changes in the pipeline with regards to pool regulations which will need to be adressed in the near future ....
but thats another topic of course.
I'm glad you said that Peter as topics of this nature (ie specific complexes income and expenditure) should be addressed in the Expats forum and not on the general forum for Tenerife. Please can we get back to Los Cristianos and the improvements.
