Just booked!!
Flying from Bristol as the flight times are better - when I rang through to the call centre they knocked another couple of quid off so got 2 weeks from 16th June 2008 for 2 adults & 2 kids for £1680
BARGAIN!!
We are in Beach Club for a week from 1st sept, and then again end of next June for 2wks (couldnt have let Zorro go without saying goodbye!)
Hope this helps, Katie x
Thanks for your reply - I booked the hotel (purely on price by the way - it was £200 cheaper than the club)!
I guess its an excuse to burn off some of the those extra holiday calories!!
I'm looking forward to it now! only 11 months to go!
(couldnt have let Zorro go without saying goodbye!)
Spoke to Zorro this year and he told me that if he knew who started the rumour that they are leaving, he would rip their head off. He was quite clear that none of the animation team had any intention of leaving.
thanks tracey
You'll sort it out when you get there.
Just wondered, is the beach proper sand or is it shingle or pebbles?
And how often does the mini-train run to Portinatx, and does it go anywhere else?
you will be settled in by the time we get there.
we are flying from liverpool on the 11th. we will be staying at the hotel.
the exercise to and from the beach and entertainment area will do me
good. I hope that there is also a bar in the hotel so that I can get a drink
on the way back to my room. xx
There is a bar on the ground floor of the hotel which is ideal for taking a drink up to your room after a hard days sunbathing.
hope you both enjoy yourselves.
Mick.
joanmc - give us a wave when you arrive, I'm the tall single mum with salon blonde hair and two teenagers (also salon blonde) We will probably be around wherever the entertainment is going on (I don't get out much the rest of the year...)
Eight more sleeps! Finished work now and starting to get excited - going to make a start on the packing tomorrow
thanks izzy
Will look out for you. I am only 5ft an a bit.dark hair.
hubby as hair in small ponytail.
15yr old will often be in a liverpool top.
13yr old typical teenage girl. (13 going on 30)
Starting to look forward to the holliday. but not the packing.
see you soon.
I heard on the tv a few months ago that spain were makeing changers
when going through passport control. it was supposed to start in june.
If any one has been recently as there been changers.or is it the same
as last year. No one seems to know what I am talking about. xx
.
Ive just come back from Benidorm. Apparently Spain requires the address and place of birth of each passenger. We did not supply any of this information - I think its taken automatically from the passport and booking details.
We did have a small delay checking in at Cardiff but this was because they checked eveyone in for about 4 flights through the same 6 check in desks rather than have separate ones for each flight. They did the same on our return through Alicante. I don't know why Thomson are doing this? I did worry that our luggage was going to end up in the wrong place.....it didn't thankfully.
So no, we didn't see any difference really
Hi Joan - sounds like your 13 year old will get on fine with my 14 year old daughter. I think they're all a bit like that at that age
So your news is massively welcome, and we will look forward to many more hols at San Miguel! Incidentally, I first read that they were leaving on this discussion board............if you look back through I am sure the post is still there. I might have a look myself just so I can join Zorro in a bit of head-ripping-off!!!
cheers xxx katieS
Oh, and there is a 'tabac' shop in San Miguel village (its a couple of miles or so up the hill, but I think would be a very long walk) - havent been there but apparently its near the church. If you go up there I would take the bus (timetables in reception), or a taxi is fine if you don't mind paying the extra!
KatieS
Hi Fitzmum, you will have a wonderful time there wherever you are staying I am sure! I did actually forget to put the plus points for the hotel..........there is a lovely ground floor air conditioned bar in hotel where drinks are served in real glass glasses - by the beach club pool the 'glasses' are plastic for obvious safety reasons. Also the hotel has a launderette on same level as that bar, and a tapas bar, and its not so far to nip up to the Mexican corner at the Galeon either! Likewise, if you go to see the nearby Caves, its not such a long walk.........the Caves are worth seeing and lovely and cool on a very hot day too!
Are there any problems with mosquitos or other pests in San Miguel at this time of the year? Just making a start on my packing and wondering whether to pack a repellent spray for the evenings.
We took the mini train trip round to Portinatx where there is a tabac shop, so killed two birds with one stone so to speak.
KatieS - glad I made your day! Admit the place wouldn't be the same without Zorro and the rest of them.
Thanks for the reply - I'm so looking forward to the holiday although its ages away yet!
I still have a few slight reservations about whether it will feel too isolated for us but will go with an open mind. If the children are kept happy & amused so we can relax, if the food & the weather are good then what else do you need really?
Roll on next June! Ive had severe post holiday depression since I returned from Benidorm
