Wouldn't it be lovely if people saw the person and not the size? Impossible I know, but I'm overwieght, and always used to be slim. I was one of those typical he he I can eat what I want and my size never alters type.......yeah get real, after I turned 40 the weight decided to take revenge for all those blaze years and teach me a lesson.
Anyway I don't know how many of you are like me, but I still tend to think of myself as slim, until I look in the mirror, or go shopping. I say look in the mirror, I always seem to look bigger in other mirrors, not my own....strange? I don't know. I have never been on a diet, I just know it wouldn't work, I would feel deprived, and sorry for myself.
Sooo for the last year or so, I have been "watching what I eat" I suppose really I have realised that I don't need as much food as I thought I did to survive, it hasn't stopped me from overeating, but I have cut down.
My husband stopped smoking 6 weeks ago, and I want to stop too, but I know I will just eat to compensate.
I've decided that I'm going to convince myself that I can go on a diet, after all if millions of others can, then so can I. I will let you know how I get on (if there's anything to tell) lol. Linda x

I have one of those mirrors too but mine has the added feature of also making whatever I have just purchased look awful. The mirrors in the shops always make me look stunning and so I just have to buy it :rofl then take it back to the shop a week later
Joolz. The main thing is did you have a good holiday?

Bonnielass. Well done you. Have a fantastic holiday.

Everyone have a positive week. Back tomorrow after the dreaded weigh-in. Not been a good girl this week - proper naughty in fact (half a bag of chips with a bread roll on Saturday afternoon was pure heaven  but worth it I think). I deserved a cheat  :gluck all.

The problem with going 'on a diet' is that at some point you will 'come off it'.

I know the principles, just give myself far too much in portion sizes.

I lost weight a few years back and I honestly wasn't even trying. It came off very slowly, around 3kg every 3 months and I think it was all down to not drinking much alcohol and having smaller portions along with some but not excessive exercise. My lifestyle at the time allowed it. Why did I fall back into old habits? I didn't realise I did, and the weight came back on just as slowly until 'hello I believe I'm a lardarse again'. :D Back then I even had some form of nice stuff every day like a slice of baked cheesecake or a flapjack.

Sigh - oh well, I think I'm nearing my 5 year cycle of going down in size/weight again (I've noticed over the years it tends to work like that with me for some reason).

I dont work for them - honest - but that is one of the real beauties of Slimming World. You really are not on a diet. Its more of a lifestyle change. I have honestly never eaten so much in my life, buts its healthy foods. Plenty of fruits and veg (these are unlimited). If you wanted to eat a whole bag of apples or even a whole chicken  and you could physically do it, you could. Its all about filling up on "free foods". The only weighing you do is say for a red/meat day, you weigh up a portion of potatoes or if you are on a green/veggie day, you weigh up a piece of chicken if thats what you want. You also do have to weigh your milk and cheese.

I dont feel like im on a diet and think that this way of eating will stay with me now. I enjoy "pigging out" on fruit, veg and meat (sad to say im not vegetarian) and not feel guilty about doing it. However, if I want a bar of chocolate or a packet of crisps or even a cheese sandwich, I can.

I have lost almost 3 stone with SW in 5 months so that really does go to show that you can do it by eating healthy and cutting out the rubbish and not by reducing the size of your portions or depriving yourself.

Hi Everyone,
Just like to echo what Sarah has said - apart from the 'not a vegetarian',. I find it so easy with just green days to contend with. SW is a change of eating habits.
I am just back from class and after 2 very good weeks I did put 1lb on this week, but it was down to the fact that I celebrated my birthday yesterday so not bothered when you know the reason for a slight gain. Will get back on track tomorrow and up to the weekend when we go on holiday to Zaknthos, have decided to be sensible, plenty of fruit during the day for breakfast and a salad at lunch and then a normal holiday meal in the evening. Going to limit the bread though.

Put on 1lb this week. Not disappointed because I deserved to, I know exactly what ive done . My only surprise was that it was not more :o .

Back to it this week with a vengeance. Now have 3lb to loose for my holiday. Will let you all know how it goes.

Have a brill holiday Irene, where in Zakinthos are you headed? Good idea about the bread - the trouble we had there was that the bread rolls were delicious and made fresh on a morning. Nothing better than warm rolls and butter for breakfast  :D (told you id had a naughty week - food on the brain  ).

Hi Sarah
We are off to a small greek village - Amoudi. We were there last year, I have never returned to the exact same place.
Last year the fresh bread was deliverd to the supermarket and as you say it is delicious for breakfast and then we started having tsatziki on it at lunchtime
So have made the decision to eat sensibly but most of all enjoy myself. Will proably 'lose' a couple of lbs before Sunday, mixture of last minute runing around and nerves!!!!! Would have liked to have lost a bit more before the holidays but hey what the heck.
Where are where are you off Sarah?

Irene. Im sure if you are careful, you wont put on too much whilst you are away. One women at the weigh-in a few weeks ago had been on a fortnight's holiday and had actually lost a couple of lbs on her return. Me, whilst I do intend being good for breakfast and lunch, dont intend depriving myself for my evening meals and will be enjoying a drink or two. I fully expect to put weight on.

In answer to your question, we are going to Cala Millor in Majorca. Somewhere new although have been to various resorts in Majorca over the years. Less than 5 weeks now :sun and yes, I am counting down the days. I wont lie about it any more
Have a lovely holiday.

Hi Sarah,
Same thoughts as me, lovely evening meal probably with a couple of glasses of wine (add these to the couple I have while getting ready and chilling on the balcony) Usually have a white russian cocktail when we get back to our accommodation at the bar.
Mind you having bought a pair of wedges that are higher than I have worn for ages I had better watch the wine consumption - as eldest son said 'You don't want to fall over mum'
Have just tried holiday clothes and suprised that some dresses I didn't think would fit have, although others things that I though would don't  Must be my shape is changing as well.
So don't actually want to put loads on I will be happy with a few pounds gain. We go self catering do you?
I like Majorca when we went we stayed in Purto Pollensa. Mind you have also stayed in Magalluf

Irene,

How do you make a white Russian cocktail? It doesn't involve milk does it?

Sheila.

Hi Sheila,
Vodka, kahula - (coffee liqueur) and milk/cream.
If anyone knows of different cocktails that are vodka based please advise on your favourite however I am not a lover of orange with vodka :(
Love orange and love vodka just not together - but hey who know when you put other ingredients with it and you are on holiday :P

Vodka with diet cherry coke is nice.

On hols a lovely combination was vodka, cherry juice and soda. I know in Turkey cherry juice is everywhere, not sure about other destinations.

Hi everyone,
This is probably one of the last chance's I will get to be on the PC before we fly off to Zakynthos in just over 24hours :D As usual I seem to be last minute again
I would like to thank everyone for their, help, support and friendship over the last few months and no doubt will be in need of all these when I return - hopefully not to many lbs heavier
For those of you still to have your holiday - have a great time.
