Hi - no you don't have to book for the main hotel restaurant if you are staying in the hotel, but you do have to book for the chinese restaurant the day before, or for the Club or Hotel Galeon restaurants. Spoke to some people who had booked for the Galeon and they were going back a second night as they said the restaurant was quieter than the San Miguel and food was good.

The hotel restaurant does get very busy during the evening and last year we occasionally had to wait for a couple of minutes for a table, but did not have to do so this year.

Hi there,
We are going next June 16th - is the hotel very very busy? Whats the sunbed situation like and is there room to breath around the pools?

Is the sea very shallow and whats it like for children to swim in?

Did you stay in the hotel or the beachclub? What are the rooms /air con like? do the rooms have a hairdryer?

Thanks in advance x

I have also just got back. As I go in the busiest 2 weeks of July/August, I expect that June will be a bit quiter. The hotel is quite busy, but not so much that you cannot move. I thought there was plenty of room to move around the pool and the whole complex, without being to cramped. The sunbeds by the main pool are taken at ridiculas times in the morning, 4/5 I was told by one family. But the rest are a little better. I was getting up at 7 in the morning, which I didn't really mind. The sea is beautiful for kids, and very safe. It gets deeper as you go further out but 9 times out of 10 its so gentle that they are completly safe. We stayed in the beach club, and there were 4 of us. It has to be said that the rooms are pretty basic and small, but when the only thing you do is sleep and get dressed in there then it doesn't really matter. And yes there is a hairdryer. Any more info I will be happy to try and help, but you're going to have a brilliant time next year :-)

Hi I was wondering if anybody could help me. For the past 4 years we have gone to San Miguel Beach Club via thomson. This year we would like to book directly through the hotel. Has anybody ever done this? If so do you have to pay all at once? Many thanks

Hi can someone tell me if you will need a key or card to activate the lights and air conditioning in your room at the hotel. I have been to hotels were you can activate it by leaveing an old credit or phone card in.
Went to greece in May and you had to activate it with a metel piece that was soldered to the end of the keyring.each time we went back to the hotel room it was roasting. not only that but if my husband went back to the room before me with the spare key that we had to beg for. he would have to sit in the dark until I arrived with the main key. going away saturday so thanks in advance for any replys. joan.xx

It's push button lights and the air conditioning works with your room key.

if you book direct with the hotel or any other company on the web eg 'Freedom direct" you have to pay in full

All packed and ready to go :hyper
Leaving Manchester tomorrow afternoon at 3:15pm - soooo excited! Spent all day packing, I don't usually leave it till the last minute, but the days have just crept up on me, so I've been rushing round like an idiot all day, but it's all done now and I can chill with a cool drink and look forward to this time tomorrow having a cold one in the bar - see you there 8)

Hi

I'm new to all this so go easy on me!!

My wife & I are going to the San Miguel Hotel on Sep 7 for 2 wks.

Pls can you tell me if there is a bank nearby or is it best to bring cash/travellers cheques?

Also, what time do the bars close and is this strictly adhered to, or can you 'get some in' before closing? Not loads or anything, but midnight seems a bit early. Is there a cash bar facility after the all inclusive time limit?

Many thanks in advance!

Hey :)

The nearest cashpoint machine is in san miguel, as there are none actually in puerto san miguel. I have been for the last 4 years, and have always took travellers cheques and money, making sure I have a little extra just in case. But being all inclusive, we don't end up spending it all so just get it changed when we get home.

You can always 'get some in' but as far as I know, when I have been there the bar closes pretty much on time, however there is more than one bar so the other one might be different, maybe someone else could let you know.

Hope this helps :D

The bars do close bang on midnight but you can get a few in and sit for a while. The Happy friars or Angela's bar are five minutes walk from the hotel if you want a few bevvies after the hotel bars are shut.
