bacon etc what can I take to Turkey

Hi Cockney girl,

Did you fly into dalaman? or bodrum? Was all your packets just in supermarket bags in your hold luggage or did you wrap them up in foil?? Just worried if they saw big foil packages they may think they are drugs

We were looking to take about 20 packets not sure if to freeze them all or just take fresh??

I would put them into a small cool bag in your case I think you will be fine
(just thinking about the sniffer dogs around your case) :lol:

Hi craig we flew to dalaman,the bacon we froze we put between towels amongst our case in carrier bags and the rest just laid along the top of 2 of our cases,we didnt freeze the ones for our friend in case they want to freeze them after they receive them.would hate to see tourists getting food poisoning,so bear in mind they might be put in the freezer again if you freeze them,but if they are frozen just mention it to your friend thats theyve been frozen once.
I had the pleasure of pulling the bacon trolleys as my son was panicking about it,but it was okay

for years my friend been taken bacon get it vacum filled stays ok i havent had dodgy stomach yet

self catering

going to julian forest icelmer next week. as its self catering is there any restrictions on what food we can take into turkey with us. most people who ve been seem to rate it highly.

There are restrictions on what you can take. It's the usual meat products etc. However many people disregard this and take bacon, sausages etc. But why bother? Food in Turkey is delicious and the supermarkets, small shops and markets have plenty of choice. Prices are still generally lower than UK especially if you buy fruits and veg that are in season. The one thing you might want to pop in your case is coffee as it's pricey there, but once I get to that heat I go right off it anyway.

Was in glasgow airport last year ,and got talking to this couple who were going out to turkey on the same flight as us .We were waiting for the check in desk to open ,when these two men one leading a dog wlked past ,the dog started whining and sniffing about the cases of the couple .Straight away i thought the worse ,drugs ? and here we were talking to them ,the wife and i got the fright of our lives . The couple were asked to open their cases and lo and behold right on the top there were packets of sausages , bacon ,black pudding ,fruit pudding ,even free range eggs packed in a plastic container ,there was hardly any room for clothes in the case ,it was all confiscated . I was never so pleased in my life ,i felt my holiday slipping away if it was drugs and we were sat talking to them .The couple were the talk of the flight . :rofl

A few tea bags and some coffee is all I ever take. The food is really nice in Turkey. I usually just buy some freshly baked crusty bread and have that on the balcony with jam and coffee for breakfast. I then eat out having a snack for lunch then evening meal.
