Not sure where to post this so will keep it together with this...

What is the temperature like at evenings? Would we need to bring a cardigan or similar?

Thanks :D

Kezza or anyone else who has stayed here...

Is there a hairdryer in the room/bathroom? Is it a proper shaped one or one of those silly plastic tube things (if that makes sense  )

Thanks! :wave

Hi Jaime :wave
You must be excited now!

There is a hairdryer in the room - in the desk drawer in the room. It's a proper shaped one, one that you have to hold the button down whilst using. Was powerful though and did the job and nice not to have to take one as well!

You'll be ok for temps as well, when I was there in September last it was warm in the evenings.

I'm dead jealous!

Just to rub it in even more....2 weeks to go :hyper

Thanks for that! will save me bringing one. I don't think I have ever looked so forward to a holiday, even my husband who hates the sun can't wait :D

Do you know if you can borrow an iron at the hotel? Really dont want to carry an iron (or buy a travel one) just to iron the clothes for the wedding as all the others will be fine rolled up in the case.

thanks

Yes you can. Speak to reception and they can arrange for housekeeping to send one to your room (and a board!)

While you're there, perhaps you could find out what happened to their webcam? Tell them how many people stuck in the UK got great pleasure from looking at the view throughout the year!

On the subject of the Sunrise beach where have the travel agents got their 2009 prices from!
In 2005 we paid 2,400 for a family room, in 2006 it was 2,500, in 2007 it was 2,550 and this year we were quoted 2,600 but decided to have a change and go to Egypt(never again but thats another story) anyway i couldnt wait to book for next year but the price with Thomsons is 3,895 !!! I thought they'd made a mistake but its expensive with everyone, even Portland. Ive also checked other hotels and they are all a lot more expensive than last year, does anyone know why, surely it has nothing to do with the euro....
Reply
probably not.. hotels are paid for in euro the euro has fallen by 20% Q.E.D.£2600 +20% [£520]=£3120 but on top of this is a hefty increase in fuel, there has also been a reduction in the number of flights [demand/availability] means they don't have to cut prices as much.. and before you say it all holidays in the euro zone are equally effected only the dollar zone [due to its weakness] is still a bargain

I would love to go back to the sunrise but its far too expensive now. We went last Sept and booked about 18mths in advance (it was my friends wedding) we paid abotu £1700 for a SSV room - at that stage that was all there was left.

You could take the chance and book a normal room then email and see what they can do but it would not be guaranteed esp if the hotel is full and others have paid the extra.

Looking around there have been some neg reviews for this hotel this year, I hope they 'pull their socks up!' as we had a fab time here last year.

we have just returned from the sunrise beach and to be fair we couldnt fault it unless we were really nitpicking, no problems at all but it is expensive to drink in there so we didnt except on the day of the wedding, the indoor pool was a godsend in the 40 degree temperatures
