Earthquake in Cyprus!

About 30 min ago we had earthquake in Larnaca... pretty strong.
we are really hope it will not repeat again.
Anybody has any info?

Jim isn't this par for the course in Cyprus? I'm sure its been mentioned that they do have tremors and quakes from time to time?

Steve I was here when we had a five pointer some years ago, and also I was in Zante when they had houses come down, terrifying, something we all seem to be waiting to happen, but at the same time not wishing it to!! also we are having bush fires here, most days you can hear the drown of water bombing helicopters, too close for comfort some days..feel for Greece and there people..

It seems the weather has gone to pot all over the World these days ! Yes I've been watching the news around Greece and its heart breaking what is happening (made even worse if as suggested it was on purpose, but those claims are being dismissed by those in the know).

Everyone keep safe and keep your eye out for any possible fire risks. Speaking of which suppose you did spot smoke rising in the distance who should you call to get it checked out ? (considering it might be a BBQ or someones fire burning stove etc)

It's not gone to pot here Steve, normal hot stuff as always in August, Sept, Oct, and November..and most of December..

As I write we have a large bush fire just to the east, a mile or so, helicopters are flying over with water buckets..third time this week in the same area, a little worrying for us here..

Morning Kath..

It rains every day so we are told on Troodos, but by the time it gets to where it's needed it has long expired, rain is desperate this year as you may have seen what is happening in Greece, it is even warmer and dryer here, we are having daily fires in rural areas, only last night fire fighting helicopters were at work near us again..

Also we are having water cuts and permanent water pressure reducing.

Only place were water is in abundance is on our sweaty bodies.. :roll:

Its beyond hot here ! Jim I know realise why you keep asking for rain and saying its too hot !

I understand that Jim re rain most days, I was referring to the unseasonal downpour I read about in Tuesdays Cyprus Mail, which emphasised the problems caused by the fires in June.

Oh btw we had an earthquake in Manchester today! :yikes

We have had only clear conditions and very high temps, absolutly no rain, we wish!! that story is a mystery .

Correct Kath, can assure you we have had absolutely no rain or clouds for months, it is wall to wall heat!! where that story came from is a amazingly untrue....tomorrow is more of the same only warmer expected highs of 33c and clear in Pafos, and again no rain...we wish!! :roll:

think the cricket maybe off in the UK though... :cry:
