No, not for Feb 2008 anyway. But only cos I'd promised friends that I'd visit again 2009 I'll do Cambodia and Vietnam. Shames me to say, but I can do without all the agro on the only two weeks I get away each year. I've always known that I can get better hotels, etc for similar ££££ elsewhere but as much as I love Goa if the government want to make it that much more awkward to visit, so be it. You spend your money , you take your choice... Will still hold a place in my heart though
If the same silly visa arrangements are still in place for 2008/09 season, we will probably choose another destination.

You seem to begetting a good split of "no" and " no, but" answers. Had we had more time to obtain our visa, we would probably have fallen into the "no, but" category.
Would make the questions on any poll interesting - I do hope that something changes as we really do want to go back to Goa (or perhaps Kerala) early next year.

Guest viewers- why not register and take part in the poll? Hopefully someone official is watching this forum.
I could well be one of those joining you there Fiona. Can't be doing with the hastle of getting visas, but as we are booked for November this year and March next we will have to put up with it this time.
We posted our visa applications to Birmingham on 30th August hoping to meet the deadline of 10th Sept. If we get them we will obviously still go as planned in January but it will probably be the last time.
I am very angry that they are making it so difficult, it just doesn't make sense.
Like a lot of people on this forum we have been to Goa many times and it makes me sad to think that we wont be going in the future unless they see sense and revert to postal visas.
I wonder what effect it will have on tourism in Goa?
I think it will certainly put first timers off.
I think it will certainly put first timers off.
Thats why I'd particularly like to hear from newcomers. If you haven't been to Goa, could you bothered with the hassle when there is a big wide world out there to explore?
I've watched the change in Goa over the past twenty years or so and not, I fear, for the better. They are more and more interested in their local tourists now and certainly the visa nonsense comfirms this, also the demands as to proof of accomodation when using flight only charters. I'll waste a day going to Edinburgh for our visa next month, as we've two lots of accomodation booked, but it'll be the Far East next season I'm afraid, the flights are more comfortable and their Goverments seem to value their tourist visitors far more than India does Alan
Undecided, we was going November's 08, We do have a surgery in Liverpool twice a year so it's not to bad for us. But still a daunting task i won't look forward to. but will wait until i get the visa's first then book, I would have booked first.
Sent visa off thursday(30th) to birmingham. Not sure if they will procsess them because we live in gloucestershire. If they do not we are changing our Goa Xmas holiday to Gambia.
Will not book for Goa again unless this mess is sorted. Next door neighbours who been to Goa a couple of times and were thinking of rebooking for easter have now going to Thailand after we warned them of the difficulty getting Visa........It will be interesting to know whether the new brochures mention the new rules in obtaining visas or it will be we have got your money not our problem.

Love Goa and have just booked to go back in March but with all the hassle to get a visa I won't be going again. I cannot understand why the authorities are making it so difficult for tourists to visit their country, it makes you wonder whether they really want us there at all!
Mike
I am fortunate enough to have a surgery twice a year that is only 5 mins from where I live, so it really doesn't affect me.If I had all the rigmarole of taking days off work and the added expense of using the listed travel agents then I would probably head to somewhere else (Thailand or Malaysia) I am not going to Goa this year as we are off to Oz in Jan for 5 wks and stopping off for a wk on the way home maybe Thailand, (if so I will need to pick Fionas brains as it's 8 years since Ive been to Thailand) When you compare Goa & Thailand they are not to disimilar in cost, time it takes to get there, weather (although the hotels in thailand leave Goa standing) the thing in Goa's favour is the people we have all met on our many visits who are now friends, myself personally I look at our hols in Goa more as a reunion than a holiday........Keith
Although I am booked for November this year and March next for Goa. I have today been and got brochures for Thailand, just to look at what is about. Think I might be asking a few questions on the Thailand Forum.
no
No. Have booked for the new year and visit again in april so apply for visa around early November (situation may have changed by then) so will either use one of the travel agents or vist a surgery (live between Cheltenham and Gloucester so not many local)
NO!! Cos the love of my life lives there. I'd go anywhere to get a Visa.
YES, I will go in March 2008 for the last time say my goodbyes to my Goan friends and pray the situation changes.
we have paid the deposit for march....it depends when we get back from crete...if the visa carry on is still not sorted out we may cancel and go elsewhere.. if we hadnt already booked and we found out about this visa problem we would not book up
