Cala Galdana

If you are going for a relaxing holiday it will be fine but if you want clubbing then it is not the place for you.
Cala Galdana is in the Southern end of the island and if it is a clear day you can see Majorca wel the Northern tip anyway. There is not a lot to do there and most of the entertainment is in the hotels of which there are three main ones. The Cala Galdana, Audaux and Sol Gavilanes they all have entertainment but of them I would say the Cala Galdana has the best. There is a small marina and there are a few resataurants sprinkled about but as I said it is more a place to go and relax and get ready for the rigours of winter. We were there in June this year and it was quite busy with holidaymakers ranging from very young to those who are in the senior years. I enjoyed the week we were there because of the pace everyone seemed to adopt. Perhaps you could hire a car, as we did, for three days to let you see a bit more of the island.

One thing if you do stay in Cala Galdana you will need to go to Ferreries or El Mercadal for you cigarettes as they are the only places close by that have the Tabac shops.

not sure what the weather will be like at this time of year but is was fine in June have a nice one anyway.

I returned last night.

I stayed in Son Bou but spent most evenings in Cala Galdana as the atmosphere is so relaxed.

It was sunny for me and I hope it is for you. Warm enough to still be on the beach beyond 7pm. You may need a light jacket for later in the evening, if its breezy and blowing off the sea it can get cool.

I have a personal list of things worth visiting if you click here. Your welcome to take a look. There's some pictures of Cala Galdana there, I think its the best resort on the island now.

Have a great time, I wish I was heading back. Oh, and allmen is right, grab a car if you can.

When we were in Menorca last year staying in Sa Caleta we drove down to Cala Gandana for a day beacuse it was recommended to us as great beach, which it certainly was :) We would have drove down again but we had only hired the car for 3 days and had a few other places to drive to on the island.

Thanks very much guys. Its a quiet holiday we are going for so sounds good, although I think we will definitely rent a car.

1 other thing - are there are cash machines readily available?

Hadn't been to Minorca for some years, but always remember Cala Galdana as being the nicest part and the one all the brochures use for their "picture" of Minorca.

We had a weekend there in June this year and it's still a lovely resort, you will have a great time and it should be quieter on the beach post school holidays.

One slightly odd thing thing, there is no taxi rank in town, you need to call the taxi office at Ferreries to get one, unless you can flag a passing one down.
