self catering in Olu Deniz

Hi Mistywillow,

If you want to be as close as possible to Oludeniz you should look around the Hisaronu/Ovacik area. Fethiye town is even further away (a 20-minute dolmus ride) from the beach at Olu.

I'm not sure if there's any maps of the area on this site, but to give you an idea, the first place you'll come to once arriving from the airport will be Fethiye town (it's a working town, but the harbour there is beautiful and well worth visiting), you'll then head up the mountain and after about 10 minutes you'll come to Ovacik (very quiet resort). Ovacik leads into Hisaronu (a 5-minute drive along) where it's much busier - and has lots of restaurants/bars running along its main roads. But there are quiet parts of Hisaronu too (places located away from the centre)

From Hisaronu it's a 10-minute drive down the opposite side of the mountain (from where you came up from Fethiye town) to Oludeniz beach.

Maverick is right: it is slightly cooler up in the mountain, but only marginally so. Fethiye town gets VERY hot - but I've never found Oludeniz particularly humid, or much hotter than Hisaronu.

If you are thinking of Ovacik why not look at Club Orka. I have the price list as I am booked there for next year {been twice before] you could get a 3 bed villa there in Sep for £65 per night {per villa not per person, that is the total price including transfers, no under occupancy or anything like that} I booked flights seperate with Aegean flights, got a very good deal. Just shout if you want any more info.

For the Flamingo over the period we are looking at, for two people, the price is given as £819 per person -sadly, way beyond our budget

Wow that is expensive! I expect they have priced it high for 2 adults so they can offer low child prices, but even so! Would you consider DIY? Because I am sure if you emailed the Flamingo direct, they would quote a much lower price. But I know not everyone wants to diy.

I forgot to say, that price does at least include flights!!

I might try emailing the Flamingo, sounds like a good idea. It's just the underoccupancy that makes it expensive I think. It's a shame there aren't 4 of us

one of the cheapest prices is med hotels.com they dont charge under occupancy just one price. its cheaper than booking with the hotel its self we had a price of 499 for a apartment in july so thats got to be the dearest time of year. don`t forget the price is per apartment not person on med hotels.

weve booked our appertment in hissoronu july 8th for 2 weeks privately we found it on holiday lettings for 250 per week its a bit big for 2 of you but there are lots of others on there at the same price flights with aegean are still quite cheap

We have heard that Hisaronu is a bit cooler the OD too.Mind, we much prefer OD as we love the sea.

If you are thinking of Ovacik have a look at the website for the Ernur Apartments. Just Google name. We stayed there for a couple of years. Nice apartments and a lovely family running them. They couldn't do enough for you. Set back from main road in ovacik , five minute stroll down to the road with restaurants on it and the dolmus into hisoranu (or hiroshima as my husband called it) Erkan, the son is great fun and Emilie his Mum makes a mean pancake that my son ate loads of. They now also have their own travel agency for booking tours etc. Don't know if this has changed their outlook on things. They have also built a small supermarket in front of the apartements since we were last there. They will also arrange transfers for you from Dalaman. Hope you have fun wherever you end up.
