Hi Demon,
As debdon points out XL are based in the south terminal for all their flights and parking express is the onsite parking for the south terminal, its well signposted and easy to negotiate your way in , debdon's tip on making a note of the nearest bus-stop from where you park is excellent as the last time i parked a bus was coming and i forgot the exact location and when i sent the wife to pick up the car she was cursing me as she struggled to find the car from my vague idea of its whereabouts The pick-up bus runs frequently and takes little time to get you to the terminal.
Another thought, i saw that you're driving from Manchester, are you going to book an overnight hotel? depends on your flight times? because you can book the Hilton that is linked to the South Terminal, its expensive but they do hotel and parking combination deals that work out fairly cost effective, try a look at Holidayextras.co.uk, or look at superbreak.com for hotel and parking deals.
Have a good holiday!
Had a quick look at hotels for the outward journey, but I think I'm ok to drive early morning to be at Gatwick for 8.00am to catch the 11.00am flight. Still a long day but the time difference is in our favour.
Coming back is a little more problematic with the time difference. No way can I drive back after coming off the flight. So thanks to andy66 for the holidayextras site as I've seen a hotel that has a daytime check in so I can get my head down.
BTW the cheapest I can see Parking Express for is around £56 . I think I'll be going for that!
BA to launch Gatwick flights to Poland and Turkey
British Airways will start flights from Gatwick to Poznan in Poland and Antalya in Turkey next summer.
From March 30 it will fly daily to Poznan and from April 10 it will operate three flights per week to Antalya.
Commercial director Robert Boyle said: "The demand for business and leisure travel between the UK and Poland continues to grow and Poznan joins Warsaw and Krakow on our network.
"All three destinations will operate from Gatwick next summer when our Warsaw flights move from Heathrow.
"Antalya is in south west Turkey and is an increasingly popular leisure destination with new tourism facilities being developed."
BA has already announced that it will start daily flights from Gatwick to Genoa from April 4.

hi folks, looking for some advice, me and my o/h have appox a 8 hour wait at gatwick for a connecting flight just debating - is it worth getting the gatwick express train into london or would we be best staying at the airport and finding weatherspoons
London is certainly a possibility. Closer to the airport is Crawley if you just want to wander around the shops and maybe syop for lunch at a pub or restaurant. Another option is Brighton. That's only 30 mins by train.
Thanks once again
Gatwick opens 'Onward Travel Centre'
An 'Onward Travel Centre' will open at Gatwick South Terminal on October 29.
It will replace the existing Hotelink, Southern Trains and National Express desks in the South Terminal, which will close on the same day.
In the arrivals hall, on the site of the former smoking area, the centre will sell tickets for Southern Trains, Gatwick Express, National Express Coaches, Checker Cars, Hotelink and other public transport operators.
BAA Gatwick said the move is part of an objective to increase the use of public transport by passengers and staff.
"The Onward Travel Centre is one of our many projects designed to put our passengers first," said Jo Astor, retail director BAA Gatwick.

been offered sofitel and hilton which is the best of these two hotels to stay over night .
We have an early flight in december, so are considering a 1 night stay at the Hilton but they are both quite expensive so still pondering.
Hope this helps a bit.
Deb.
Hi all, we are going away for new year & need to take the car to park at south terminal, I've just been looking at BAA site, & we can park in the short stay multi storey car park adjacent to the terminal for only £6 ish more than the parking express, has anyone else done this. I hadn't even thought of trying this before, & as we have a very early flight it would be nice not to have to wait for buses after parking in parking express.
Booked over Christmas a couple of years ago and there was a special on the multi storey car park. It was fantastic - really makes a difference not having to get on a bus. I always check if there are any specials for the multi storey now!
Thanks starry I think I will, the price for parking express is £57.70 or thereabouts, & the multistorey works out at £63.70, as I said it's mimimal for the comfort of not having to wait for buses at 4am ...! I don't know why I haven't looked at this before, I just assumed the multistorey was for drop off & pick ups - oh well we live & learn.
Just wondered if it's anything of a hassle getting from the North terminal to the South terminal, using the monorail. We are looking at booking a holiday at the moment but the flight departs with Thomsonfly from the south and returns with First Choice to the north. Usually we use one of the car parks but because the flight times are mid afternoon going out and early afternoon returning it means we can use the train from home to the airport this time, but will obviously need to get back to the south terminal for the mainline station.
Absolutely no hassle at all. If I remember correctly the longest time you will have to wait is 10/15 mins.
You won't even have to wait that long of an afternoon - it's very simple and the South Terminal end of the monorail not that far from the mainline train terminal either so there's no great hike involved.
That sounds brilliant, thanks guys.
Hi, when you get off the walkway after the monorail, you turn left, all train information is on boards on your left, you are less then 100 metres from any platform. Tonyt.
Thank's Tony.
No problem, If you care to give me a Railway Destination, will be able to give you a Platform number, am a very frequent visitor to Gatwick. Tonyt
Tony, we will be travelling up from Eastbourne.
