Gatwick comes into line with hand baggage allowance
Passengers travelling through London Gatwick will be able to carry more than one bag through security from March 31.
Bag restrictions were lifted at all other BAA airports on January 7, and in the Gatwick transfer security areas in February.
But Gatwick had been given extra time to install new x-ray and archway technology in central search areas.
The necessary work has now been completed.
BAA Gatwick will continue to apply the Department for Transport's cabin baggage restrictions relating to the size of each item (maximum 56cm tall, 45cm wide and 25cm deep).
However, some airlines operating at Gatwick, including EasyJet, Monarch and Ryanair, will continue with a restriction of only one item of hand baggage.
Passengers will be advised to check with their airline before travelling to the airport.

Could somebody please advise me where I should send a complaint regarding BAA Gatwick Airport to? I tried submitting it online, but I was only allowed 4000 characters and mine was rather lengthy! I have found the Gatwick address, but I wondered if there was another alternative?
Many Thanks

You could always address it to the Managing Director of BAA Gatwick - Andy Flower, for added impact!
I'm assuming there's a Boots the chemist at Gatwick after security. If so, does anyone know if it's a decent size, ie, will it stock the same stuff as their high street stores? Are the prices the same or are they higher due to the location?
I want to travel with just hand luggage and might buy toiletries, sun tan cream etc here if they have a good selection and it's not a rip off.
We bought quite a few toiletries in the Boots store at Gatwick (after security) and I don't recall the prices being extortionate Not a huge range as it's only a small outlet but we found all we needed.
Thanks Pippy - I'm not looking for anything exotic. Just some sun cream, moisturiser and so on.
You'll find all you need there in that case. By the way, that was last year we were there so I doubt it's changed
We definatley need an after security wh smiths for buying drinks , mags etc for on the plane as we are not paying for all the kids to have the overpriced small airline drinks.
Anyone been recently and found it better , The North Terminal that is.
Flew from the North terminal last month at 7am...seem to recall things coming to life about 5.30ish airside..
I posted this previously on the BA forum without success so am hoping someone on here can help. I'm flying to Tunis tomorrow from the North terminal with BA at 12.55 and am just about to check in on line. Can someone tell me how soon the baggage drop will be open? I shall be at the airport much earlier than I would have chosen (probably by about 7.30/8.00) and don't mind wandering round the airport but would prefer not to do so accompanied by a large suitcase with a broken wheel. This will be left in Tunis as I'm only using it to take out some wedding presents and my clothes will be in my holdall, which is why I'm using an old case.
I would assume that'll be open when the check-ins open. It'll certainly be open when you are planning to get to the airport. Many of the early flights will be long gone by then.
Darren
Thanks Darren. i just wondered if the 'fast drop' opened at the same time as the normal check-in for the flight, which is often not until a couple of hours before departure.
Cheap parking, anybpdy know of anycheap parking? cheapest i can find at the moment is £86ish, was looking around last week and week before and found £52, now the prices seem to have shot up, should have booked it then, looking for 15nights starting on the 18th june
Have you tried the local/airport hotels? sometimes it can SAVE you money by booking a stay and park rate at some of the hotels. I save£8.00 a couple of years back i know it was only £8.00 but for that I got a night in the Hilton and a weeks parking out of it. and saved myself a 300 mile journey on the day

Another that gets very good reviews is http://www.littlefoxeshotel.co.uk
Otherwise take a look at this general b&b site http://www.gatwick-guesthouses.co.uk
We no longer even look at a hotel - preferring a b&b if we need to stay at Gatwick. With most b&b's you get breakfast included - if you have a very early start then there is usually a help yourself breakfast.

Try a b&b rather than a hotel. One we and friends of ours have used is Another that gets very good reviews is http://www.littlefoxeshotel.co.uk

Felbridge Spa looks nice and is £140 with 15 days parking inc. It is £12.50 each way for a taxi to the airport but the facilities look really good.
Have a look through the Gatwick Airport .... hotels thread.
