Thomson and First Choice check-in is located in zone A at Gatwick

....and sometimes the pavement out side the terminal ! ;)

Last year Thomsons had a check in at zone C, but the queue stretched round to zone A!!

It depends what lounge you have. They usually do provide a view over the apron or runway.

Facilities include free alocholic and non alcoholic drinks and snacks such as biscuits, crisps and the like.

Carolyn,

If you are going into the Aviance lounge in the north terminal then I am afraid the only thing you will see will be an office facing it. In the lift you go down rather an up.

The lounge, however, is very nice. The chairs are very comfortable. The toilets are lovely and clean with nice soap and individual hand towels ('j' cloth type of things). There are televisions and two bars where you help yourself to tea/coffee, wine, spirits and soft drinks. There are no sandwiches, but there are crisps, muffins, biscuits, nuts and dried fruit. There are also plenty of magazines and newspapers.

There are no announcements (there are t.v. screens showing flight details), however, if when you go to the gate and there is a delay and provided the lounge is not packed, you can go back into the lounge and they will tell you when your plane is boarding.

My other half and I like the lounge because you can chill out there.

Hi,

We are flying to Sanford next Thursday at 0800 with Monarch. Does anyone know what zone in the South Terminal they use.

Thanks

You need Zone K. If you are coming by Road (Coach, Taxi etc)
Go into Entrance follow straight on and it is inmmediately in front of you. If coming by train, when you get into terminal area turn to your left. Tonyt

Has anyone flown out on the early Thomsons flight to Ibiza on a Friday morning this year?
If so were they checking in several flights at the same desk as they did last year?
Thanks,
Mick

Thanks Darren - so we could be looking at long queyes then?

If it is possible and as you say you are on an early morning flight, try to use the day before check-in then you have no worries with queues etc.

Friday mornings are notoriously busy, with the following flights departing an hour either side of yours using the same desks:

05:55 FCA4510 REUS
05:55 TOM1291 CORFU
06:15 TOM5511 NAPLES
06:25 FCA4504 MALAGA
06:40 TOM2283 CORFU
06:50 TOM1087 IBIZA
06:50 TOM4501 ZAKINTHOS
06:55 FCA4524 SKIATHOS
07:00 FCA4514 TENERIFE
07:10 FCA4528 REUS
07:35 FCA822 ANTALYA

Best bet would either be turning up early (3-4 hours) or check in the night before. Otherwise, be prepared for a queue. Also, if you plan on having breakfast at Wetherspoons/Garfunkels before your flight, I would advise you to turn up early. I was there on Monday morning at around 7am, and the wait for food was around 45 minutes.

Hello,

I am flying out from Gatwick on the 14 Sept with Thomas Cook at 11:30am on a Sunday!
I would reeaally appreciate it if anyone here could tell me what time the check in would open, which zone
they use and roughly how many desks would be in use, as I think most of these holiday companies now
seem to like to check in quite a few flights at once! Confusing I think!!

Oh and are they being really strict with the old weight situ as they are normally quite forgiving at this end
but you never know!

Thanks Racegirl! :tup

The Thomas Cook check-in will open at around 2am and remain open all day, however you won't be able to check in for your flight before 7am. They recommend checking in 3 hours before the flight, so between 8am and 9am would be an ideal time. The Thomas Cook check-in area does get busy, however your flight is the only flight departing between 1015-1215, so it shouldn't be too bad at that time. Alternatively, you can check in the day before between 4-10pm.

As for the weight situation, when I flew to Cape Verde with First Choice, one in our party had 28kg (3kg over) and wasn't charged - however this will probably vary between ground handlers and individuals. The odd kg over should be fine.

Thank you for replying to my post. We were thinking of the day before check in but apparently this is only on offer with Thomas Cook until the 11 Sept and we go on the 14th. We are leaving early anyway and we have already selected seats.
Heard that a bit of a refurb is going on at the airport so hopefully a bit more room to sit down.
Are the Thomas Cook desks allocated in one area of the airport then? x

We are flying next thurs LGW to LPA with Thomson we fly at 1935, on recent weeks does anyone know how bad the check in and security queues have been?
We are going to be arriving at gatwick around 1600 so have plenty of time but just wondering if we should expect it to be manic.............especially as reading back i can see TOM and FCA have merged desks (great! NOT)
I used to think Manchester was bad until we moved down south, cant say ive been keen on gatwicks queues for the last few flights!
When we flew early morning last year we arrived 3hours before and literally just had time to grab the kids a quick snack to eat on the bus to the aircraft it was that bad!

Also does anyone know if there is likely to be a lot of diff flights checking in at the TOM/FCA desk at that time?

Thanks :D :cheers :sun2

vicky06,

I can't help with the queue / security situation as I don't use LGW. However there are a few flights checking-in in the afternoon before you, but they should have cleared and it should be quieter when you are checking in (about 1630+).
