Danielle,

Saturday is generally busy earlier on. 7am would be after the busiest period, however the following flights would be checking in at that time:

09:25 TOM1131 SANFORD (280 passengers)
09:25 FCA422 BODRUM (235 passengers)
10:00 TOM5931 MALAGA (180 passengers)
10:00 TOM2677 PAPHOS (290 passengers)

Yours is the only First Choice/Thomson flight between 10:00 and 11:30. It usually dies down a little after 6am, so 7am shouldn't be too bad.

Suziesuze,

I recently travelled on the First Choice flight to Sal, which departs 5 minutes before yours on a Monday, and it wasn't too busy. We got there at around 6:30am and took around 5 minutes to check in. Clearing security was also a breeze, took around 2-3 minutes.

Hello and thanks for all the replies, think i will get there about 6.15am just to be safe, thanks for letting me know it's North Terminal too.

Bit of help please......
Whilst I know that you can't buy cigarettes air side if you are flying to an EU country, are you allowed to buy bottles of spirits if you are flying to Spain (Ibiza)?
We're flying to Ibiza in October, and want to take a bottle of spirit out for a friend of ours, and rather than pack it in the hold luggage, would rather take it as hand luggage, which means we would have to buy it after security.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.
Ta,
Mick

micknmill, you can buy both bottles of spirits and cigarettes from the tax free shops in the departure lounge, even if travelling to an EU country. It is just not as cheap as buying if you are travelling outside of the EU.

We are flying from gatwick on March 4th next year to the Maldives. We don't fly until evening so we have plenty of time to get there.

Can anybody advise me about parking there please. How much it would cost etc. We will be away for 2 weeks.

We are not sure whether we should just get a taxi down there or whether to drive down ourselves and park up.

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Wizard, we live ooop North near Doncaster and I guess we would want to arrive about 3 hours before take off.
I don't know what terminal we are going from.

I have a vague memory of driving to Gatwick yonks ago when I went to pick up a friend arriving from America and it took me about 3 hours to get there.

I would say that it will take you a good bit longer than 3 hours - even the AA say it is over 200 miles and 3 1/2 hours driving. You have the M25 to contend with which at certain times of the day can be very, very slow indeed.
We live in Suffolk and it usually take us 1 3/4 hours at least to get to Gatwick.

Re parking - we have used Tudor Rose meet and greet and they come highly recommended. http://www.tudorrose.co.uk You need to know which terminal - if you know what airline they or the airport or indeed various websites will be able to help.

Why not come down the day before and use a b&b which includes parking. I appreciate that your flight is not until the evening so you would have to find something to do once checked out of the b&b but at least you would know you were there. We are using the highly recommended Trumbles in January -

Hope this helps.

Val.. i live about the middle as a proffesional driver it takes 2 hrs from here to donny and 2 1/4 hrs from here to gatwick if you do it in 3 you must be flying not driving... reason i asked is we go by rail we worked out last time with 8 days [reduced rate] parking + fuel + comfort breaks cane to £10 more than rail for 2 of us and of corse i didnt have to drive :tup

When I drove down last time it was in the middle of the ngiht and there was nowt on the roads except me and a few lorry drivers! I well had my foot down. This time I don't know what to do for the best because a) the cost b) the hassle of driving c) the ease of having someone else drive for us..but then d) that will be quite pricey.

Thanks for all the advice people. I will look into all options. I have plenty of time to make a decision. We don't go until March.

beware of roadworks and speed restrictions on the M1 between junctions 10 and 6A

picked my son up from Heathrow last week and the M1 was slow going, the M25 surprisingly wasn't to bad
