WOW! BA to Sharm is really cheap... Reckon I can get 7 nights in April flying with BA and staying at the Swisscare for £620 full board for two, including the transfer... Hmmm...

Hmm... never thought about flying into Sharm. Was looking into Taba only with flights £300+.

How long is the transfer from Sharm to Nuweiba?

About an hour and a half, Mark. We've had longer transfers from Taba when the coach has lots of drops to make. If you are in your own a/c vehicle it is no problem at all.

You wouldn't beleive I was an accountant... Missed the per-person bit. Actually £732.10 in total... DOH!

Still very well priced... Especially as the Longwood brochure quotes £479 EACH for six night...

Flying to Sharm with BA means you don't have to do 6 or 13 nights either, but any number you fancy. Allowing you to get the 25% long stay discount for over 7 nights :)

The drive from Sharm to Swisscare is fine Mark. We played 'spot the dead camel' on the way!  Alvin provided cold drinks in a cool box.

Great idea Carrot, I'll book myself in for a B to B transplant!

Mark, when are you likely to be going? Will any of you guys be going early July? I'd be more inclined to go if I knew there'd be a few of my mates there!

Hiy Pips,

Think Rog is going early June--------We're going 4th Aug Don't know about anyone else!!!!!!

Pippy,

Haven't made our minds up as yet, but most likely sometime during July (that is, of course, if we're going there as we're also considering Cyprus).

Just doing a costing comparison:

Seven nights for 2 adult based on Breakfast and Dinner:

7 x $ 43 x 2 = $ 602 + $ 30 = $ 630 - 10% = $ 567
Add transfer @ $ 140 totals $ 707 for seven nights

Eight nights for 2 adult based on Breadfast and Dinner:

8 x $ 43 x 2 = $ 688 + $ 30 = $ 718 - 35% = $ 467
Add transfer @ $ 140 totals $ 607 for eight nights

So eight nights is cheaper than seven nights unless my calculations are wrong

Flights would cost £ 430 with British Airways but they only fly once a week and so can't do an eight night stay.

Total cost independent would be £ 430 + 350 ($ 707) = £ 780 or £ 390 per person.

Booking with Longwood would cost £ 872.10 or £ 440 per person.

Looks like DIY is on the cards.

Update:

Flying with XL you can do 8 nights. Flying out on the 1st and flying back on the 9th July 2008 would cost £ 532 in total.

Add to that the hotel @ £ 300 ($607) it totals £ 862 or £ 431 per person. Still dearer than 7 nights as the flight are more expensive than BA.

Ok

Alvin, would you be at Swisscare first week of July?
Reply
Mark, if the flights are £532 with XL and the hotel is £300, how can the cost total £862? Are you going to tip the cabin staff £30?
Reply
Shouldn't we tip the porters £ 30 then to carry our luggage from the airport to the transport taking us to the hotel?

Damm... done it all wrong last year then

Maths was never my strongest point

Well guys... you better book pretty soon cos I am now working on the new prices for next year !!!

I don't mind the US dollar dropping against the British pound... but when it drops against the Egyptian pound, then I started waking up !!! :x :x :x

3.5 % drop in the past six months or so and that does nt even account for inflation !

Pips... I ll be there whenever you want me to be there !

  Well you see, I just don't know if I'd enjoy going on holiday with not a soul I knew there. I know you sometimes get to know people on holiday but I'd want to know them already!
I was a bit concerned about there not being a jetty (remember my panic attack?! ) but actually that's not an issue as I'll wear a life jacket! Would you help me find my way to the reef Alvin?

Mum's very kindly said she'll buy the flights for me as my Christmas present so I need to start getting this together. Never done DIY before. I like everything laid out for me clearly! I'm going to ask Mum to do it, she's better at this than I am!

Alvin, am I likely to receive more male attention than usual at Swisscare being a single traveller? If I did, would they be offended if I asked them to leave me alone? I don't mind it when I'm in a group but not alone.

Of course he'll be offended Pippy... :!:
What a silly question

   Noooo, not from HIM! From the staff!
The Swiss one I can cope with

The staff will be very complimentary to you. They were towards my wife when we visited last year (I know this sounds like a cliche, but she is blond)

They do know when to stop though if you're concerned.

Thanks Mark

Nobody over-stepped the mark this year but Nats and Sammy (who's rather well endowed  ) did get alot of attention.

When we stay at the Conrad we all get it! I think it's because there they're more used to getting what they're after. One of the Conrad staff actually told us he seeks out British women, makes us all look great eh? :?

Pippy, dearest, the Swiss person will be all over you like a rash! You'll probably be glad if some of the young boys are keeping an eye on him!

I'm surprised at you, you have more than enough strength of character to keep unwanted attentions at bay. I'd run a mile if you told me to bu**er off!
