Just recieved an e-mail from a place I looked at last year with a view to staying at for 3 weeks in March, he informs me that due to a swimming pool being built and new refurb of the bar and restaurant that the 1000 rps per night which he said was negotiable for a discount for 21 nights, has now gone up to 1300 rps per night final price
After reading this http://www.navhindtimes.com/articles.php?Story_ID=01028 I am very tempted not to book, but arrange my first night elsewhere and then visit in person and agree a price then, what would you do ? I spoke to the lads in the bar last year and they said I would have got the room for about 800 rps then so I feel a 500rps jump a bit hard to stomach, now that I know they are struggling to fill rooms.
P.S. Happy New Year to you all
I am concerned there are now a number of accommodation owners agreeing a price and then changing theri minds. With an exchange rate of 70 to £1 around £19 a night without a pool, bar etc sounds expensive during March
Happy New Year
GFF xx
PS the following is a link to one of the newest places that has sprung up in Baga - situated on snake alley (the road opposite coffe day)

Like the others, I'd definitely wait till you get there. You hand pick the location and do a deal face to face.
Thanks for the replies, yes your probably right, it is just a case of assuring Mrs FTV who is convinced that I am turning back to my backpacking days of old when you could get a room for a pound a night This place was the Emmanuel apts which you got the number for me, yes it took this long for them to reply I will probably do as I said and book one nights hotel then look around at a few places that I have in mind and agree a rate in person.
We went very last minute last Feb with nowhere to stay, much against SWMBO 's wishes and we got sorted out very quickly. There are loads of good rooms and deals to be done.
Having never done a DIY job before, what do I need to take with me when I check in at the airport as proof of accommodation ?
FTV if you've booked F/O most of them come with 1 nights accomadation now so thats all you need it comes with your tickets well ours always has.
Thanks sleep, I will keep an eye out, I pay the balance on Thursday and the visas have just gone, not long now
I have seen some flights for this year on travelrepublic and that says their flight only has Park Avenue Hotel annex as the accomodation for the first night, but you arent actually booked into Park avenue
It depends which airline your travelling with, MyTravel seem to be ok.
Nicola
FTV - I think it's Monarch that want proof of accommodation, I know they insisted on this a couple of years ago when you checked in at Manchester, I don't think any other airline wanted it.
It is Monarch I am flying with so I will check, thanks everybody.
on the ticket it said 1 night guest house accomodation.Had no problem
at the airport.by the way the flight was on time both ways.
