Gibraltar tour is 9 euros for shopping or 22 euros including rock tour. You can book this from Arman tours near the Bali hotel they will pick you up at your hotel. To get to their office , if you come out El Tiburon and walk towards the Marina, carry on through it about 200 yds after it you will come to the hotel Riviarea hotel walk at the side of it up the steps then cross the road and up towards the Bali, its on the right hand side opposite the Bali.I think it took about 2 hrs to get ther including pick ups.

Ps If you do the rock tour beware of apes on the roof of the shop, one watched our friend buy a mars bar, it followed him and pinched it off him in quite a nasty maner. He was an adult but I dread to think if it had pinched it off my 6 year old son, it would have knocked him over.We were warned not to touch them or tease them but this one(a large male) seemed to be waiting to pounce, we watched him prowling about, he then bounded over jumped up on our friend and stole the kingsize mars bar. Our frind was left with large scatch marks and bruises on his arm. We laughed about it afterwards and a mars bar as never tasted the same.

You don't have to go either into Torremolinos or Benalmadena to book trips to Gib or anywhere else ......there are at least 2 places where you can book excursions under your nose.

The first excursion shop in on the promenade between Plaza del Remo and the end of Carihuela beach (before the "rock")
Come out of the hotel, head for the promenade, facing the sea.....walk left.( I've not used them)

The other excursion shop which is also a very good money exchange place with no commision, is on Calle Salvador Allende.
Walk passed the front entrance of hotel Pez Espada, keep on that side of the road and walk towards the hotel Riu Nautilus/Benalmadena port...the shop is called Betica Travel , it's a few doors down before the road junction.

They also have a shop in Benalmadena and have been in business at least 7 years, to my knowledge.

I can recommend this shop for both money exchange and trips, the girl working there is Spanish, but she speaks perfect English.
Their prices are the same as anywhere else for excursions.

Re the apes....dirty, smelly, nasty creatures....they should ship them back across the water, but then they would lose one of the biggest tourists rip off's....just my opinion. :rofl

Thanks for that. I've been there once around 35 years ago. We were just looking at options in case the weather isn't that brilliant in March. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi

Am staying at the Tiburon in September. What is the weather usually like middle of Sept does anyone know? Also, what time are the rooms available, we should get there about 11.30 and do the rooms have to be vacated at 12 noon? I know from earlier post that there is a room for the luggage.

Thanks

I would imagine that it will be still warm in September. We had a fabulous week here last week. Temperatures were 20 - 22 every day. We arrived around the same time as you, and 2 of the 3 rooms were ready. We had an early departure so I'm not sure what time you have to vacate the room. The luggage room is just off reception. The hotel is far nicer than it's rating suggests. I would try for a room which is not on the ground floor as these are very close to the bar, and a set of sliding doors which are really noisy. Have a look at Shirley H's report on the hotel review section. Anything else you want to know you're welcome to pm me.

Hello All
Been to this hotel, came back Last Friday. Glad to get out of the place. I had heard mixed reviews but still went. After travelling there and arriving at 8.30 pm, very tired, and travelling by myself hoped to get a nice welcome. Got there to a miserable unsmiling trout on the desk. Asked me for my paper work ,and passport with no manners or a smile. Told me very abruptly where to go and told me I was on the top floor, which I was pleased about because I like to have a good view and a quiet room. She told me to get the lift to the First Floor and there would be stairs. got out on the floor and then after climbing three lots of stairs, tired with a heavy suitcase and flight bag, realised she should have said third floor, as the lift went to the third. So a very weary 49 year old woman had struggled for nothing.
Got to the room, not bad thought clean had sea view and balcony (room 401) unpacked. and rested then I started to hear a noise in a room next door, not a hotel bedroom, but at the end. thought it was just an odd bang, Went to bed then it started, a loud hum, followed by two loud bangs that vibrated through the bed, this occurred every 10 secs. I thought what was it, went to bed, then another noise started a loud gushing and humming besides the other noise. Stuck my ear plugs in, no good. This went on all night. Did not get any sleep. Two noises keeping me awake, it was constant. Decided to go down the next morning to ask for another room. There was a man on now, just as unfriendly, more or less told me the noise must be the lift, no I said, its not that. He said must be the water, only last a few seconds when someone ran water. I asked for another said there was one with no balcony, went to look, a scruffy room I wouldn't put a pig in. Holes in the curtains. Said I would stay in the room, but would he let me know if another one came vacant with a balcony. He said yes. Found out later, a fob off.
After another sleepless night, and also having to go out to get away from the din I went down again to the desk and it was the miserable ignorant trout again. She seemed to relish my discomfort because as she told me there were no rooms free as the hotel was full , she beamed for the first time. I knew it was a lie because I knew two couples were checking out.
I gave up but I was very upset and telephoned my husband and family a lot because I felt low. I did try to make the most of my time out of the hotel, but it was not easy knowing I had got to go back to that room and the din. The room was nice, but the place it was, situated was not.
I discovered when I saw the door open when the cleaners were in it, it was two great tanks that fed the hotel system, one tank had wires hanging out of it. Fancy having tanks next to a guest bedroom, not only was it noisy, but to me a safety risk, if there had been an explosion or anything my room would have been affected.
I spoke to a couple next door to me, 402 and they could hear it too.
However, after checking out after a week, I sat in the lounge and starting talking to some other guests who were also about to leave and found out that they had been on the same floor as me and that the room next to them 403 had been empty for days.
What a rotten thing to do to me, knowing I wanted another room, treating a mature woman like that. It was a disgrace.
I was relieved to get home to be able to rest and get some sleep.
So I will not be recommending the hotel to anyone. I would like to mention I am not a complainer, but this was an awful experience, and I have never been treated like this in a hotel before.
The only nice thing about the hotel were the cleaners, they were very nice.

A very unhappy, Dawnie-Rob

So sorry to hear of your bad experience at this hotel Dawnie Rob. We stayed here a couple of years ago and had a very pleasant stay. Things have obviously deteriorated since then.

What a shame Dawnie after all the excitement and research.
I have been looking at that one for a short break in November but have now crossed it off my list.
You probably looked at other places when you were there. Any suggestions please?

What a shame and disappointment Dawnie. I really can't understand why people are meanspirited in that way :( It would have been no difference to her to have offered you a different room. Whatever happened to customer service ? I would imagine people would have stayed in that room and compained before so she must have known.

So sorry things didn`t go well for you at El TIburon Dawnie, although its not the best in comfort it made up for it in freindlyness. Looks like its lost that now and with no breakfast things aren`t looking too good for the El Tiburon, lets hope when it gets refurbished it will shine again.

I hope you still had a good time on holiday and enjoyed the area you were staying in. Let us know about your holiday.

I'm really so sorry that you had a bad room at the Tiburon.
Your last post on the board address to me about taxi's, on the 19th September, I wasn't being rude by not replying, but it was too late because I was already there, we flew early morning on the 19th, and I only popped into the internet cafe a few times during the whole fortnight when we were passing, and my OH was content to sit in the bar next door for a short while, on his own.

If you'd made contact before either of us flew to Malaga, I would have popped into the internet cafe more often to check for any pm's, and I'd have come down and given you some support, I'm not saying I would have achieved anything, but I certainly would have given it my best shot........ but I'm not one to "force" myself on people and I thought maybe you wanted time on your own.......that was the idea of you going away on your own.

I was thinking about you because originally you were undecided between Benidorm and the CDS, and I phoned my friend in Benidorm who told me it had been piddling it down with rain for days, so, as far as the weather is concerned, you made the right decision.

Don't know what else to say.

Been to Tib a few times and the old Misery guts on reception can make your holiday unpleasant, once she's gone it could be a lot better.
