Hi Cazz,
thanks, i know about the barut lara as we will be staying there in the summer. Never heard of the Sorgun area though. We were in the car park just as you get into Side and when we stood there right opposite the ruins facing out to sea we could see a lovely long sandy beach with hotels dotted along it and i assume apartment buildings. Imagine if you were in that carpark and your looking towards the road that comes into Side, turn slightly left and look across the bay.We are looking for 4 or 5 tar AI in that area. The hotels you mention, are they in the old part of side and can you tell me how far the new part is from the old part? Just trying to get the right area before i book anything.
Thanks for your help.
The Hemera and Arum are on the 'other side' going back towards Antalya of Side, rather than towards Alanya. They are situated out of the old town, maybe a mile and a half by road, but you can walk into Side along the beach in about 30 mins.
With regard to Sorgun, Thomas Cook do a AI hotel called the Club Voyage Sorgun Select which has good reviews.
The Barut Lara looks very good - we stayed at the Barut Hemera 3 years ago and it was excellent, and that was prior to the refurbishment. Hope to go back one day!
Tour Ops who do barut hotels in side.
Thomson, portland, cosmos, thomas cook, direct holidays, manos. All of these do the Hemera A/I and most do the Arum H/B. Thomas cook also does the Cennet and Acanthus which are both on H/B basis.
The Barut Lara is done by cosmos.
If you fancy the Hemera, cosmos and manos have the best availability.
Thanks for that Cazz, it sounds like the Hemera is one of the hotels we might have seen across the bay. Will investigate further.
Thanks Cantthink, I will be getting their brochures online tonight hopefully
When I looked for availability for the Hemera on a room only on the Thomson website they only had 6 days available from 11th May.The Sorgun and Titreyengol area have lots of 5 star hotels, some on the beach and some on the lake. This is east of Side, which is very clear on google earth. The Hemera,Melas,Arum and Sunrise queen etc are to the west of Side.Manos have sold out the Hemera so I may have to look for another hotel.
cosmos has loads of dates for the hemera in may and all the other months through the summer but they are more expensive than thomsons, but not as expensive as manos. Thomas cook has very little availability.
Only Thomson has availability from my local airport for May and its £681 for 2 weeks.Manos was £555 before it sold out yesterday.Thomas Cook only have the apartments left and with under occupancy its £988 each! Our friends who want to come with us have a budget of around £550.
I looked at gatwick and manchester. Have you looked at cosmos. Funny because here down south manos are well expensive.
Cosmos dont go from my local airport.Which group are they in?Thomson or Thomas Cook?
Cosmos are still independent whereas Manos are part of Thomas Cook.
I have tried to today to book the Hemera for this christmas, Thomas cook flight is fully booked for the date we want. First choice dont do the Hemera ,and Direct and most of the others use the Thomas cook flight so no joy. Its ridiculous that they only do this one flight the hotels are surely losing out because of this.Tried Manos and Cosmos to no avail. Does anyone know of any other companies that do the Hemera.
British Airways flies Gatwick to Antalya. You would have to book the hotel separately. Have a look at ba.com. Hopeyou get something sorted.
thanks will try BA. Rang the hotel and was told they couldn't give me availability or prices till OCTOBER
jaytrip-try travel agents for thomas cook accommodation only-they have the hemera very reasonable then book the thomson ncl flight, you cant get the accommodaion on thomas cook website though
Thanks,I have just seen it on teletext holidays website for £531 for 2 weeks in April with Purpleholidays, com. They are part of Hays travel which are the biggest independant travel agent in the UK.I might give them a ring tomorrow. The Thomson flight from Newcastle is far better flight times than the Thomas Cook one.I will call in Hays tomorrow for a price.Ive just checked the Thomson website for flights and they dont fly to Antalya in April!
oh sorry jaytrip i thought you wanted May-yeah we booked the thomson flights-fantastic times-going on 13 may-can't wait!
I was originally going to go in May to suit friends who want to come with us,but its my husbands "big" birthday in April so decided this would be a good time to go as we have a static caravan and its usually lovely in May weather wise.
