It can be done, but it is quite expensive. About two years ago it was more than €6 to post 400 cigarettes, and that was at the cheapest rate.

There is an official maximum of 800 from Spain too, I believe.

Chivas69 the last time i was away i brought 3200 back to Ireland and was picked at random by customs, they told me the limit was 800, having an English accent i told them i was catching a later flight to England and they let me off

Pebbles, for peace of mind i'd have to send them registered and i could only imagine how much that would cost

Plan b needed, i know, i'll just get so drunk i'll forget to get them :cheers

Peter, are you going alone? If you have other adults with you remember they too will have a limit, see if they will give you their limit!

You have to accompany cigarettes back into the uk.
I had some posted to me from Spain but got a letter from customs saying they had confiscated them.
When I emailed them they sent a email back with a link to there website with the details on.
You may get them through but I wouldnt take the chance again.

its not worth posting fags back.you could get fined.this is now a out dated thing to do.ok in the 80s .but now not worth the trouble and pain.like mentioned they can get confiscated.

i go to benidorm twice a year , and bring back 6,000 ciggies each time.

the 3,200 `limit` is only a guideline from the customs , i have a letter from the customs telling me that.

just make sure all yer ciggies are the same brand is my advice.

Friend will be in Benidorm for 1 night only. Arriving on Saturday 15th midday, leaving early Sunday morning. I checked the opening times on Eurotabac website and saw the one behind the indoor market closes at 2.00p.m on Saturdays and the Mediterraneo one and the one on the same road as the Melia are open till 8.00pm.
Can anyone tell me if the opening hours will be changed on Saturday because of Holy week.
If these ones are affected is the new one outside the Airport likely to be open by 10.00a.m. on Sunday
Does anyone know where the one (I think it must be newish) on D. Severo Oachoas
is in relation to the Melia or Levante Club Hotels.
Thanks.

the law on cigs has not changed 3200 is only a guide line not a limit if you only travel once a year and are stopped with say 50 cartons you will be questioned and as long as you give no indication you recive nothing what so ever in return and they are for your own use they will most likley let you go.
If however you let slip your mum sometimes takes you out for a meal so you gave her a pack of fags this will be looked at as payment in kind and you will loose them and that will be the end of it no further action will be taken and no crimanal record you will be given a form to appeal against the seasure.
on the other hand if you travel lets say monthly and you are stopped with 16 cartons the recomanded guide line you will have a difficult job convincing them they are for your own use and probably loose them
hope this helps
all imformation you need can be found on hmce web site travel to uk from inside the eu

I f I was you then I'd buy them in resort. They are about €5 or so more in the airport per 200.

Sue :)
Although in saying that, i do believe that they have opened a new tabaccos just outside the airport so they might be the same price as in resort but I was referring to the Alsensa stores actually in the airport.

get them at resort.but if you need more when checked it cases.there is a shop outside.just near carpark for rent cars.departures exit fag shop #1.anyone who buys at airport must be mad or very well off. ie duty shop

because of the weight limits we buy half in resort to go in our cases and the other half in duty free
bit more expensive but cheaper that paying excess on your luggage

4 boxes of 200 is = to 1kg.once you have checked in go to shop outside.why pay more than you should do...

cigs are same price in tabaccs shop at airport ,this is outside the airport terminal

Dont rely on buying you ciggs at the dutyfree at the airport, comming home from Alicante yesterday we was queuing for 2 hours to check in,our flight was boarding,so we had no time to shop.

Hi, thanks for that, does that mean i am right in thinking the allowance of 3200 weigh 4 kg we are off to Benidorm 2nd of April flying with Ryanair who are strict on baggage, so been trying to work out how many cigs we can bring back, without having to pay any excess baggage.
Reply
yes 4 boxes is 1kg.so make sure you know your weight when going out.- things you throw a way... only take enough paste/creams ect to last a week or how long you are staying.plus don;t forget those deep pockets in your jackets ect.most hotels do now have scales .for a euro worth a check . if you are on your limit in cases.not sure on hand baggage with Ryanair.but when you have checked in.get to the shop like i have said and stock up.same price run my the goverment.

think Ryanair is only 15 kg cases not sure.if you are only out for a week.you should just do it.mix and match your clothes up.i have done it in summer to ibiza for two weeks many a time.
