Yes, I'm afraid that the only recogniseable ale on sale at the pub in Nuweiba, is Heineken, and thats brewed in Egypt!

I tend to stay well clear of Russians on holiday since the time I was forced to watch one wet himself as he sung a song on karaoke night in front of a hundred or so people. The next morning he was curled up on a sunbed outside the restaurant at breakfast time, still wearing his soiled outfit.

That's a bit of a scary story my dear orange legume. Cypruschick is probably even more worried now.

I have a treasured and cherished memory of sitting betwix a Russian family and an Italian family at breakfast in the C. Plaza.

The first were consuming enough to keep a small African nation going for a month at one sitting, including about 20 eggs each , the second which consisted of slim rather beautiful women and various equally attractive offspring, seemed to be surviving on demi-tasse black coffees, cigarettes and the odd nibble of a lettuce leaf.

This lead me to the conclusion that things probably balance themselves out in this life or at least at the breakfast table.

We were told the story last year behind the Russians being there in such great numbers. After Brit tourists were slayed at the Pyramids years ago, the tourist economy was hit hard. They offered Russia cheap AI hols, and I mean cheap, and have been unable to get rid of them. The cheap deal was supposed to expire 2006 I think. As peeps say though, most of them are AI and you won't see many outside the Hotels. There must be places over there surely that are only for Brits, even though I don't mind some of the other nationalities. Most peeps hit the nail on the head when they label the Russian's like pigs in the restaurants because they are. Was in Bulgaria and Egypt last year and both places were full of them. We were also told that they like to take as much stuff back home as they can.....not sure if this included dried foodstuffs or just room fittings!!!!

Please bear in mind people from many nationalities read this forum. Don't let this turn into a racist thread.

i have just returned from sunrise mamalouk palace in hurghada, brits were definately the minority, lots of french,russians, poles.it didnt bother us at all,apart from meal times i had people push in front of me a few times ,and i must say i did let them know politely..i think the egyptian staff liked me for it ...as they dont always get the best treatment from other nationalities.i know there are rude british too, but the staff and rep commented on how we british adults and children usually say please/thank you etc.yes i also saw several piled plates of 10+ bananas etc and the day the fruit display at the dessert section had strawberries on it, it was like a gold rush.

I think the only way to quarantee plenty of Brits is to pick a hotel that is widely available by many of the UK tour operators or even go for one of the first choice places , the holiday village or coral sea resort .
