Is there an ATM within walking distance of the Marinha Dourada?

No Spinner you will need to go into Calangute. There is an ATM right at the beginning of Calangute on the left hand side after you pass Arpora. Only 5 mins in a taxi.

So I take it I can change a small amount of £££ into Rupees in the hotel just for the taxi ride down to Calangute?

Yes you can change money in the hotel as well. The exchange rate will be slightly less but only by a few rupees, nothing too bad.
You can always get in the taxi and stop at the ATM and then pay the driver once youve changed your money. Just tell the driver to take you to an ATM and he will do that no problem.

I am travelling next Monday and I know you cant buy rupees over here and take over with you. We arrive around 9am and I have a nationwide card so free to take money out, however, are there cash machines in the airport on arrival. Its just incase we need some as soon as we get to the resort (palmarihna hotel, calagunte) I know its a bit of a walk from the main resort (i say a bit, I can cope with a 20 min walk-shoudl burn off a few calories in the heat). And I take it from all the posts, that there are cash machines dotted about in the resort.
Thanks

I'm actually getting a coach transfer (included in the package). Just dont want hotel to ask for a deposit-think that was just a one off when we went on one of those cheap 18-30's to Spain!! :duh

If you are getting the transfer bus to your resort you won't need any money, if you need to pay for anything when you get to your hotel i.e. fridge etc. then you will be able to change money at your hotel. I would only change a small amount at the hotel because the exchange rate is always better at the money exchangers in your resort, the elephant shop is usually good, it depends where you are staying.
