Hi all,
Right 2 female 40's wanting to go to cyprus in September. I am going round and round in circles as where to stay. I am a beach babe friend is more into history etc, so any suggestions as whereabouts on island to stay would be welcome, neither of us drive so we are reliant on public transport. If we stayed in Ayia Napa for instance would Paphos be reachable for days out.
Cheers
Eman Travel in Napa run coach trips to Paphos but it's a long way to go for the day on public transport, a car would be better if you wanted to get out an about. You think about Limassol as about half way between and there are some okay beaches here too.
Why not do one or the other this time and then another time do the other ? I guarantee you'll be back as 99% of people do
It is easy from Limassol to get a public bus or arrange a tour up to the mountains.
Ayia Napa has wonderful beaches but is not too interesting for anyone wanting to see historical places etc. You would be spending most of the day on a bus if you went for there to Paphos.
Alternatively you could consider staying in Ayia Napa and do some trips to Famagusta/Salamis or Kyrenia both in North Cyprus. It is possible to do a coach trip to Paphos from the east as well, I did it one year when the rest of the family were doing a diving course. We went to Kourion and the mosaics in Paphos harbour, also stopped for photos at Aphrodites rock. Time for a quick swim at Paphos and a snack and then back. I enjoyed it but I would have liked longer there.
September is a great time of year to go , the sea is really warm and the heat not as intense as July/August.

I would personally conisder Paphos/Coral Bay/Tomb of Kings Area to stay in. There is a frequent bus that runs between the two. Paphos has the Mosaics and Tomb of Kings, that could be visited. Coral Bay has a sandy beach. We have stayed in these areas and used the local bus, I love the sea too, but am quite happy to laze by the pool, rather than the beach. Also again there are local jeep/day tours available.
Thanks for all replies circle getting a lot lot smaller. Coral Bay it is. Looking at possibly staying Horizon Crown Resorts Hotel. No reviews on here, so if i could beg for further help if anybody knows anything about this place, please.
Here you go some reviews
Horizon Crown Resorts isn't a bad shout.Pretty good location for both the beach and the main resort of Coral Bay,although it's not directly on Coral Bay beach as you have a wee walk down the hill for a couple of hundred yards. You might get bored with Coral Bay at night but you have a bus stop right outside on the main street where the bus will take you to the TOTK road and further into Paphos itself where you'll be spoilt for choice with all it's restaurants and bars.If you want direct access to the sea look at any hotel along Poseidenos Avenue which runs along the coast from the start of Kato Paphos tourist area all the way to the harbour.
The Alexander the Great hotel next to a pretty decent/ish beach, I used it most of the time last year and will be using the same beach this year.
I agree with Robby, the Alexander the Great's location is excellent. In my opinion, there isn't enough going on in Coral Bay. Stay in Paphos itself and take a bus to Coral Bay.
