Neil thanks for that...excellent reading. It makes us "Dregs" look like angels when compared to drug dealing Israelis, Russians and Nigerians. (I'm qoting from the article by the way - not my opinion)!!! I don't know about overstaying my visa, I personally can't wait to leave!!! I agree with what the hotelier guy says about sorting the place out but the bit about the "poor quality Brits"........what a cheek!!!

we will continue to be over-run by poor quality Brits with their offensive manner."

But he doubts it would deter even Britons from coming to Goa. There have been no cancellations so far. He says:

Yes, couldn't agree more GFF!!! and everybody gets tarred with the same brush....but where would they be without our money! they forget so easily!! it really is enough to make you feel like going elsewhere .......... i find these parts of the article very offensive

"Goa needs a giant wave to wash off the stains"

Giant Wave.... more like giant toilet brush and disinfectant.

Whatever next??? They really have no idea!! Goa is a gorgeous place, it has lots of things to entice tourists. Instead of thinking of new ways to bring tourists in why not make the best of what they already have? they need to clean up the beaches, put pavements in (too many cars on the road now so it's dangerous), get rid of the flippin eyesore that is The River Princess, sort out the garbage situation and most importantly of all; force the police to actually POLICE...not just stand around stopping people on bikes and "fining" them.

Letter in todays paper ref the same thing:

Great article and so true, but what a shame that Goa can be spoilt in this way

The Chief minister has opened his trap again. This time saying that charter tourists do not make any contribution to the Goan economy, and visas should be only granted to the well off.
I have just got my Business Visa as we are opening a travel agency in Goa,but definitely having second thoughts now, maybe it's time to invest my money elsewhere.

This talk about the Chief Minister and visas. What he doesnt seem to realise is the visa covers the whole of india and not just Goa. As I understand he alone does not have the power to change the rules on visas and certaintly other states welcome foreign visitors, so he is unlikely to get much support.

Thats what I'm not getting either :que Can Goa be specific with what it lets in? I wouldn't have thought that was possible.

A few years ago I was very interested in staying in Goa for 6 months and working remotely (Internet) was also interested in any small business ventures. Not now, I think it would be hard going being British and involved in a business over there just now. Everything seems on a knife edge just now.

Very interesting GF... a bribe of 800 Euros to get off the hook for smoking a cigarette... this could have been any of us! Despicable... didn't know they stooped this low!

I'm surprised at you GFF, but I must admit I am having serious thoughts about it , these are really shocking articles.
Some friends are long stayers and are due back this week, so I'm going to see what they say.
