Planning on going back to Goa in Jan 09, i don't really want to go, id rather wait until summer 09 and go to Egypt, but my partner wants to go back.
He still loves the place, so i said we'll go back for one last time.
Im also trying to persuade him to go South, as we've never been South, but he is worried it will be too quiet and 'boring'.
So, it looks like we will be back in the Baga/Calangute area again .
Does anyone know of any reasonably priced hotels or apartments that have a bit more space than our last hotel .
We stayed at the riverside guest house a couple of months ago, and we had 3 beds in one room.
2 single beds which were pushed together to form a double bed, and a little camp bed for our 4 year old.
I think i have stayed in a few hotels that have a lounge area, plus a seperate bedroom, and they usually put the 3rd bed in the lounge area.
This is something that would be ideal for us.
P.S. does anyone know what the room layout is for the Beir mar hotel in Baga?
thanks
nicola
Hi Nicola Hope youre keeping well.
Hi Gemma, i am great thanks How are you my dear ?
Hi nicola nice you hear your wee voice again I hope you are well .....elli has been to the south she can tell you more about it I know she loves it down there ....colleen
Also stayed in a one bedroom apartment in the Lagoe Azul Arpora which had a lounge and kitchen downstairs and bedroom adn bathroom upstairs. My sisters 1 bedroom apartments was all on the same floor with a kitchen/lounge, bedroom and bathroom in the same hotel
The Osborne has good sized rooms with seperate lounge area (ideal for an extra person), it usually comes in at quite a reasonable price too.
GFF xx
We stayed at the Lagoa Azul, it was just a room, not a 1 bed apartment, and the room was massive, our son was 3 at the time and we had loads of space. We are going back again in Jan 09 too, and there will be 4 of us this time.
As for going down South, everyone has different opinions, but we found that the people we came across were not half as friendly and helpful as the ones up North. We might of just been unlucky, but we didn't like it as much as we do up North. On the other hand we did think it was very picturesque and beautiful and there are some lovely deserted beaches like Agonda, which was lovely.
I have sent you a pm with telephone no for a new 2bed apartment near the Highland Beach Candolim
a nice size complex with swimming pool.

Hope you get somewhere to stay and I am so glad youve decided to return to Goa. I cant help with your query (sorry) cos I always stay at the Marinha Dourada, but they do have big rooms were you could easily have a cot and small single bed in. Also as Maz says, the rooms at the Lagoa Azul are very big, its another nice hotel, ive stayed there as well.
Let us know how you get on and keep in touch
Taffy - come to think of it, we would settle for Candolim, i quite like it down there, especially near the Sinquim (sp?) end.
I did also have a look at the hotel you mentioned in Arpora, this was on my list of favourites for this years trip, but we decided against it because it wasnt central enough for us, but next year we won't be too choosy about location, but focus more on the hotel itself.
GFF - this is the hotel that we had booked before, but had to cancel because of the dates, so this is why we ended up at the riverside.
I quite like the location of the osborne. Is it near the nizmar and resorte tio carmino?
Ive stayed in the tio carmino, and im sure its on the opposite side of the road?
Thanks for the Pm Ann - i will definetly look into that. Do you know roughly how much they are charging ?
Irishcolleen - when are you next in Goa? I think i will stick with the North, as this is going to be our last trip to Goa for a few years ( i say this every year though )
Your a northener arent you?
Gemma - yes, i do have morning sickness , again. Most times its just the feeling of being sick, but yesterday i had pineapple for breakfast, and i couldnt keep it down. Probably too much information there haha.
Poor you Nicola Keep well x
The 23rd of november this time round nicola for three weeks ..hubby is up now looking at next march he can get it for 500 quid with first choice he says that if we book a cheap holiday by the time you pay your inflight meal extra baggage allowance and extra leg room because he is a six footer and he needs that ....so when you add up all those things £500 looks ok to me colleen
The Ticlo Hotel has large rooms like you're after -it's on Baga Road more or less opposite the Infantaria. I had a room around the pool which and these have separate lounge areas, also had fridge/aircon/tv for no extra charge. I'm told by Kevin the manager that all the rooms are being upgraded for next season and there's to be a new restaurant built which they will be starting on in the next few weeks.
We are going on 21st November this time so may get to meet up with you
We actually popped into the Ticlo, but didnt like the look of it
Never stayed at the Ticlo, dont know if it gets very good reports, location is fantastic tho.
I think im interested in the Lagoa Azul in Arpora, or the osborne in calangute.
I will have to do my research
The setting is wonderful and they have good large rooms. Cosmos have the better rooms, with lounge and separate bedroom, whereas Thomsons have the one large room.Sometimes you can negotiate but I hav'nt been there for a few years.
Its usually a bit pricey for a 3 star, and the food is dodgy , so eat out.Its also right on the beach, a 2 minute walk through the gardens and there are plenty of good shacks in the area.
Regards
I think we're going to book in a few months, the prices at the moment are too high
Let me know if you need any information about the Lagoa Azul, and I may have a couple of pictures that give an idea of the size of the rooms.
