Part 2

By now we were settled into a sort of do as you please routine. On the Tuesday evening we went to Casa Sea Shell. I always have Chicken Tikka Masala here as it is fantastic. Mrs O had Paneer Tikka, my mate had Shark and his wife had butter chicken. The four kids had Tikka Masalas and Tandoori Chicken etc. All with rice and naans. Followed by eight desserts. Complete with two complete rounds of drinks and two liquer coffees each for the four adults. All under 3500 roops. We were absolutely gobsmacked. It has to be one of my fave restaurants in the CCB area. The service is always good. I have never had a bad meal there and always very reasonable. All that food and drink for just over a fiver a head!!

Beach again next day....... oh it is a hard life. Souza Lobo that night. A seafood delight for all, with desserts and Liquer coffees again under 4,000. The younger lads kept the beach shack boys entertained by flicking that blue neon helicoptor thing in the air and then onto their shack roof.....twice.
After dinner back to Candolim and J29 for a couple of games of pool. I know people have varying views on this place but when you have 4 teenage boys between 2 familys and 2 are 16/17 and want to go to Titos and Mambos, and the other 2 are 13 and you are trying to keep them entertained in what has become an electronic world, this place suits. Shame the Old Boy from J29 has had to retire. He used to have me in stitches...

Pool the following day. I have never been a poolside bather and got quite restless - especially as I never took any books with me and I usually read 5 - but the kids enjoy it as the water is safe compared to the beach.

That evening we went to Angaara, we have been there in the past and had varying quality of meals, but this is Goa! Mrs O is always dubious about going there as the spices they use do not always agree with her. This time it was probably the worst we had ever had there. There were only 6 of us as my mate's eldest was feeling 100% and he decided to stay in with him. Jason - the exceedingly tall Karnatakan greted us with a beaming smile as always and took the drinks orders. Then as we were giving our food order, something distracted his attention and he just left us for five minutes. The problem was someone wanted seating and obviously took priority over us! Mrs. O played safe with paneer tikka once again I had the Chateaubriand - medium rare and to be honest I can't recall what the others had. The meal took ages to arrive, we had to ask twice for someone to take our drinks order as we had finished ours. When the meal arrived my Chateaubriand was overcooked and nobody else was too impressed either.
We had a liquer coffee which was ok ish and asked for the bill......which took almost another 20 minutes to arrive. The kids were getting bored so we sent them over to J29 to play pool. We paid and left. Jason knew we were not happy. Mrs O, true to form had a dodgy tummy following here meal at Angaara. Unfortunately what was a great restaurant has now turned into a less than average one!

Friday and time for another shave - followed by a quick cold one in Bending Bamboo, before going back to the pool - after I had found a book. I was getting fed up and too hot by the pool so we made the decision to go to the beach everyday from then on.

That night my mate and I were charged with the task of finding a new restaurant. I said I felt as though Mrs O and I were taking over the holiday so we went to find a new one, so off we went. We found Spice Garden.......Oh Dear!!!
When we all entered, it was dark and dingy, but that is Goa. The waitress was pleasant enough and speedily took our order for drinks and food. When the food arrived, half the order was wrong and it all tasted like an old dodgy 70s Vesta meal. A couple had apple pie for dessert - not good. the Bill came to 4500 roops, which we were none too impressed with given the level of service and quality of food. Maybe we got them on a bad night, but I am reluctant to return.

That will do for now, more later......

Colleen, Spottys is just at the end of the beach road, in front of Sunny Side Up, that permanent temporary shack that shouldn't be there.

ShirleyV those blocks were the second phase built in 1999/2000/01

The rooms 1501 and 1502 are in the older section, but it's very quite there and the surroundings are really pleasent.

Enjoying your report and looking forward to the next bit Spotty.
We tried Inferno last year because of all the reviews on here, but its not somewhere I would not hurry back to. No complaints about the service, setting, location or price but the food IMO was only mediocre. As for Souza Lobo's IMO very overrated and living on its name from the past. I thought the place appeared filthy, food bland and not enjoyable, would never return there. Hurry up with the next part please :D
