My feet are so swollen that tonight I went out to a show wearing...............
........... Crocs! They are the only thing I could get on my feet and even they are tight. Nice black trousers, black and gold top, textured leather jacket and gold Crocs.
luci
hey, girls, gok wan says its acceptable to have a knicker line, so i'm gonna wear mine with pride !
It doesn't seem to matter that I have lived in Lanzarote for 16 years, buy most of my clothes here, and speak spanish into the bargain, you can still tell I'm british Maybe its just the way we put our clothes together? Or maybe its just that we are not used to wearing so little during the day?
I know too, that I don't look spanish when I go back to UK, even though my clothes etc are from spain. It must be that I am just useless at looking good!!!!!!
Maybe this will make me very unchic, but who or what is Gok Wan?
I wondered that then assumed it was a typo
'How to Look Good Naked' clearly hasn't made it on to Bavarian TV yet! Gok Wan is the presenter - a prince among men! He thinks all women are gorgeous (though evidently gay!) and his mission in life seems to be to convince all women that they really are gorgeous. What the women concerned regard as 'lumps' he convinces them are 'curves' and what is more curves to be celebrated. Each week the programme features a desperately unhappy woman with low self-esteem and self confidence who dislikes her body and by the end he's not only convinced them they are gorgeous but manages to get them to pose naked and walk down a catwalk in a busy shopping mall in lingerie in front of 100s of people. And basically he does it by putting them in magic knickers and a properly fitting bra, giving them a makeover based on figure fitting but flattering clothes but most of all by continually telling them how wonderful they are and how gorgeous they look. Unlike Trinny and Suzannah who shout at and harangue women and try and turn them into clones of themselves! What's more - his clothing tips really do work!
SMa
SMa looks like your going to have to make a video of 'how to successfully tie a sarong' (at least for Sue and I )
Its a glorious day here in Spain and my sarong is tied on by its ears! Brilliant tip!
Many Thanks, I do get English TV but don't watch a lot of it, I'll look out for the program.
Judith
I think the Europeans are used to the heat so always look glam and chic whereas we just look red faced and sweaty in our sticky £8 Primark sundresses and we always end up with £2 worth stuck to the back of our legs when standing from sitting down.
sounds good to me Luci , all colour co-ordinated what more can you do , comfort over fashion everytime , especially with the feet.

Think I definitely need some more instructions!!!! I am having dreadful trouble
Chic it most definitely is NOT
sydney wrote:The look that makes me shudder is the teeny tiny top, hipster trousers and thong waistband showing a good distance above the trousers because the top doesn't go down that far to hide it. It doesn't matter whether the person wearing this outfit is slim or overweight, the look is just not nice. :yikes
This is a particularly attractive look when the top of the thong is slightly grubby.
Been away a couple of days, please to see this thread is still going, it's hilarious and makes even better reading the second time round.
Long live Gok Wan, he must have done more for womens confidence than all the therapists in the world.
Now see, highlighting my non-chicness yet again, I only have one which I bought from M&S, so quite good quality there. The others, erm, freebies. So therefore probably not enough material on them to make them look halfway decent.
I usually tie them around my waist as a skirt and stick a vest top on. Classy eh? If I tie them like a strapless dress I have the problem that SMa has given us steps to eradicate - a big old gaping hole right down the middle. As for putting them on so they are halter neck........... Not to mention they tend to make you look 5 months pregnant.............
Well I went and dragged a very old one out of the drawer to practice on! This was given to me about 10 years ago, by friends who had had it tied for them in Marguerita when they bought it. It was still tied when I got it out Of course now I've untied it to try myself, and can't remember how it was in the beginning So it is now going to have to be put on like I do a towel when I get out the shower!
What's wrong with flesh or nude coloured underwear? It's far better than white. White undies are definitely a no, no under white clothes. Gok Wan!! love it. His name is pronounced like 2 welsh words. Wouldn't like to tell you all what it translates to
I didn't think there was anything wrong with the words 'Gok Wan' until someone mentioned that if you took the 'k' and put it at the end of the 'Wan', you end up with something rude! Now when I see him on the television I laugh.
Must say a look I find very British is blokes wearing trainers and shorts with ankle socks and what's even worse is ankle socks with sandals.
My OH bought a shirt from a batik factory in Penang SEVEN years ago and he still takes it away on holiday now. When we thought our luggage had a disappearing act for ever recently(T5) the first thing he fretted about was losing that shirt (That would have been the only positive about losing our case for me!)I wouldn't care but he wouldn't be seen dead with it on at home.
