If they have the option I would choose Maui (or Kauai) over Oahu anyday. Waikiki (Honolulu) is OK but essentially a large commercial US city with beaches. For the real Hawaii then go to Maui :tup

Hi, I did Vegas, SF then Maui last year. There is a trip report on here somewhere which is quite lengthy (& probably boring!). All my flights were with United Airlines. I booked everything independently. I phoned a couple of tour operators from teletext and went with the best price. I also booked my Vegas & SF hotels with them but booked a condo on the beach in Maui. Having been to Oahu also, I would have to agree with the above, if you are looking for more of the real Hawaii, then I would choose Maui anyday. That said, if you hire a car on Oahu, you can go to some wonderful beaches and the North Shore and stay aware from the commercial Waikiki.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask or pm me.
