I spent a week in Granada in early/mid-October a couple of years ago and it was very pleasant during the day - certainly warm and sunny enough to walk around in shirtsleeves but not necessarily sunbathing weather. It did get cooler of an evening and it would be a good idea to pack a light jacket or have a jumper/cardigan handy. I took an overcoat (I was starting my journey on the east coast of scotland after all!) but I never wore it once I was there apart from our last morning when we had to leave around 7.00am in order to get back to Malaga for the flight home. The weather took a decidedly windy and hence chill turn that mroning and I was glad to have it. So you might find a light weight fold-up anorak jacket that would be windproof handy. Primark do them for very cheaply in a little pouch.

RE costs, I was in Seville in April during the Feria when you'd expect prices to higher but we could still get a 'menu el dia' for between 10 and 15 euros per head at lunchtime and tapas of an evening, including the inevitable bottle of Manzanilla would come to around 40 euros between 3 of us. So I didn't think the prices where that bad - certainly comparable to La Gomera in the Canaries last October but of course once you change that into £s then you do notice the difference because the £ has slipped so much against the Euro. Of course you could push the boat out as well - in some of the posher city centre restaurants, a 3 course meal from the a la carte menu plus drinks could easily add up to 40 euros per head.

The only place we visited outside of Seville in April was Cordoba and there we had 3 course 'menu el dia' for only 8 euros just a round the corner form the Mezquita! Basic homely cooking - but unbeatable value given that that included a glass of wine!

We're not beer drinkers especially but a decent bottle of wine would generally cost around 10 euros in a bar or cafe and you could get cheaper. Coffee varied a lot - we paid as little as 1.50 euros and as much as 3.50 euros. I would say that you'll find enough choice to be able to find places that suit your budget.

I live near Nerja. The weather in September is usually lovely. Traditionally the rain starts during the first week of the Nerja feria which is around the 7th October!

If you are looking for a pretty resort, then Nerja is the place. If you are looking for a Spanish, coastal area, rather than a holiday resort, then look at the area between El Palo and Lagos. In this area you have Rincon, Torre del Mar, Caleta, Algarrobo and Mezquitilla. These are all fairly traditional Spanish areas with a bit of tourism thrown in. Not really places for nightlife, but it depends on what you are looking for.

I'm happy to help if you have any specific questions.
