The signs go on for a reason and I generally agree that cabin staff of some operators from that part of the world do not adhere to flight deck announcements in a similar fashion that passengers dont. Mind you Singapore airlines were fairly good at checking. However as we all know turbulence can be a major factor and it would not be nice while fastened into seat another flys around the cabin and causes injury to strapped in passengers. At least most UK carriers are fairly strict on this. It is after all a health and safety issue.
We've just booked to go to Kuala Lumpur next March with Malaysian Airlines, flying from Heathrow. Could anyone tell me what this Airline is like for flying long haul. We're going out on an overnight flight take off is at 10pm. Do they provide any pillows, blankets etc? Also what is the food like?
Many thanks

Merged with existing topic, which may provide some useful info while you wait for further feedback
One of my favourite airlines to the far east and OZ/New Zealand.
Hello, as well as my other posts(!) I'm looking at this airline to fly LHR -> MEL. However, the return leg is 35 hours, as there seems to be more than 12 hours at Kuala Lumpar.
samanthatracey,
Thanks Dazbo! Not something I want to do with a toddler - even if the price is good!
might be worth looking at an airport hotel?
There is an transit hotel airside at the airport that you can book - we used it for six hour period. Or linked to the airport there is a Pan Pacific hotel.
We're hoping to be able to check in online so we can choose our seats in plenty of time. We're not flying until March 17th, Kuoni have told us we'll have to wait until 61 days before the flight to do this as we have to wait for the tickets to be printed. Does this sound correct?
Many thanks in advance for any help!
Online check-in is only available between 24 hours and 1.5 hours before your flight departs. More details on Malaysia Airlines website. What you'll probably get is an Amadeus (Check My Trip) reference number (e-ticket) so you can extract your flight reference number for use on the airlines website, or a paper ticket with the said details.

Once I'd booked, I called Malaysian Airlines office in London and asked if I could prebook seats, this was 3 months before I fly. The lady I spoke to said yes no problem so I booked the seats there and then. Of course I guess I may turn up and not get what I asked for but they certainly seemed helpful!

Last time I used them (from Frankfurt) I called them and they allocated seat request there and then.

KL CAT does have the facility to luggage check-in services. When travelling with Malaysian Air you will check in and you get on the train without your bags.

Glad you had a good trip Gramps, and all worked like clockwork. Welcome home to the "wonderful" UK
I am sure that some of you would like to know that Malaysia Airlines plans to introduce the A380 on the KL-Heathrow route MH002/003 from 2nd July 2012 with 3 weekly flights (from LHR: Tuesday, Friday, Sunday). From 15th August the A380 will be daily on this route.
