When I arranged meets last year you were all for it and even asked for a picture, why the sudden change of minds.
If some one wants to arrange a meet, let's say December 1st, then why can they not start a thread "meeting 1st December at _____ bar, anyone interested who might be there at the time.
I have had numerous PM's on this and people are finding it very odd that they cannot arrange to meet each other, we had some great nights last year and met many new friends, as you have probably found out by the response from people over the last year on the forum.
Hopefully you can understand their point of view and maybe relax on this subject a little bit and let the member's vote by using the stated/dated threads.?
Many regards and maybe we may actually meet up one time.

but I just dont think we want to do things like this all the time and have all different dates floating about the place. If thats the case its probably better arranged with interested parties by PM.
An excellent point from Gemma. The original two meetings were okd by HT (as per the T&Cs of this site) but really the forum was in danger last season of being taken over by various meet threads(which had not be okd by HT first). We then had follow up threads asking what happened to everyone who said they would go. As pointed out on this thread as well, things happen on holiday and you dont always want to be beholden to dates. I'm happy to have a thread for set meets as per usual but would ask that any further meets are arranged by pm please. Once days and locations are sorted I'll lock this and start up a new thread with days and locations in the heading- or first post.
On a further note- the actual agreed meets suffered as other meets had been arranged. Everyone is of course free to arrange further meets by pm if for some reason they don't want to make the twice weekly arranged meets. Why not get involved with them- 2 meetings a week is surely enough? In the meantime, as someone out in Goa at the present you might have suggestions for a suitable place or places, which preferably does not focus on food so that they welcome the HT crowd.
Suggestions so far have been Public Bar or Bubbles for Calangute. None for Candolim.
Any dates in november for those of us arriving very early??
they were Wednesdays and Sundays for the last few seasons. I'm assuming they are the same days( but of course that has been verified). We are not sure of where these meets will be yet- as the forum is quiet just now, we may find that decisions won't be made till nearer the time.
What we need to establish is if there will be one of two meets each week? Its all very well people saying they like two meets a week but then theyre only there for 2 weeks of the season and lots of other Wednesdays and Sundays no one was turning up
So I guess we need to find out what night(s) and where are we meeting?
I guess its best to pick a night(s) were there arent a lot of change over flights and definitely somewhere central ie. Calangute

so do we think one meet would be better than 2 options? That sounds like a good idea. Something definitely did not work last year and perhaps has put members off going to meets. Not sure if it was the amount or the place? Which day(s) do most people travel on/ would be best to avoid? Is Calangute the best place for a meet. Public Bar- is that a good choice? Does it rely on food sales? Are there other options? It might be best to pick somewhere that is not busy all the time and therefore would welcome meets.
Viva bar in Candolim will be a good shout if Pete and Tish form the Countryside get it next year, right on the main drag opposite Newtons, cheap drinks and plenty of room for everyone. I still havn`t ruled out a holiday next March yet
Mike also suggested the Palm Tree in Calangute, I think he knows the owner? Its right across the road from the Public Bar. Public Bar is large, but Lin thought it was a bit busy The good thing about the Public Bar is it is has separate bit for eating
I dont know whats the best day for the meet, maybe a Monday or a Wednesday, I dont think there is a lot of flights on those days.
As for the other meets they are still a great idea, I loved the day out last year at the beach shack, but I think it is a better idea to arrange by PM so I will contact Mike to see what we have planned for November
I guess we just need to wait and see what everyone else suggests now.

If anything is happening in november please let me know. I have never been to an h.t. get together and am really looking forward to going to one. Have been trying to guess everyones age from what they say on their posts!!
keep an eye out on this thread- I'm sure there will be something in place.
don't worry squigs the meets generally start by November as thats when the charters start coming out to Goa so you will definitely see about it on here before then, its just quiet at the mo on here as mostly everyone is back in Uk and Goa probably seems like a long way off!! ... Or Brazil!! if you are lucky like Irish colleen!!!!!!!!
Personally, I think one night is enough and Calangute is easy for the Cal/Baga/Can stretch. Not sure about the public bar, though. When we were in there it was loud and very, very raucous - actually difficult to have a conversation above the (very) drunken shouting and singing. Perhaps it was just a bad night but I don't think so!
I'll keep my eye on this thread to see where we end up. Hope we can re-establish meets because it's good to meet and chat with new folk and discuss what's hot and what's not.

Just tell me what day and where and hubby and I will be there (dont fancy the public bar )tho.....
I don't know much about these meets having never been to one (but looking forward to going to one!) Do you ever hold them at beach shacks because most don't seem to be too busy serving food in the evenings and they aren't too noisy like some of the bars? Having seen alot of them shutting by 9pm on the Calangute/ Candolim stretch because they have no customers, I am sure alot of them would be glad of the trade.
I think that would be a good idea. The flying dolphin in Calangute is quite nice. I think you are right- they would welcome custom.
Just say we will be in Bonnies or Nirvana if you are where we are
If you are in Candolim state where you all will be
or Baga places
Everybody will be in Mayonies over the Baga bridge every Sunday night.
