Hi caz, i have read on another forum that people who did not refil their bottles at the water spout were not ill. It makes sense when you think about it, its highly unhygenic at the best of times - there is bound to be cross contamination, never mind when people have been ill. It may not be the answer but I know that i would rather pay for bottled water and drinks than run the risk.

*edit* oh and is there a mosquito problem there? not heard much mention of mozzies. Ta folks.
does anyone no if there are shades at swim up rooms yet? there wasnt any last august but i think they were planning to get them.thanks
coral sea had chocs in fridge very expensive.no mozzies that we recall.certainly not an issue as my daughter would of suffered again.
The mini bar is stocked with some chocs but we took them out and stocked the fridge with goodies we'd bought from the 24 hour shop located just outside the hotel. Its much cheaper.
We had no problem with mossies whilst we were there.
.....I wish i was back there now....lazing around the pool!!
Adios

Hi all, we are travelling to the H/V on 4 August 08. Can anyone tell me if there is any dress code in the restaurants on the complex at meal times, and is there any need for mosquito repellants etc.
Does anyone know if there are Spa treatments and how much they are?
Can you let me know if the gym is airconditioned? and what sort of equipment they have. (not really for me but for my husband!) need to give him something to keep him occupied!
What times are the kids clubs?
like the tips about buying stuff in shops and then storing in the fridge in room...presume the cleaners dont swap it all back?
Thanks
We just used it to store our bottles of water as the hotel serves all the soft drinks you need.
The kids clubs were 10-11.30/12 noon. then 2.30-4pm, there were also some late evening ones.i think they started at 8/8.30pm.
Can't help with the gym or spa treatments as we didn't use either.
8 weeks for us cant wait, will defo keep clear from the water machines. I did comment on previous thread whether this may be the culprit for egyptian bellies, steer clear peeps who are going tomorrow and see when you come back if you have managed to be squity and sicky free.
Due to go HV on 29th Sept we started dreading it instead of getting excited.
My husband works with a guy who just came back from Egypt and he can't keep off the toilet, he's sweating and exhausted. He said his holiday was ruined! Not the HV, but I just don't want to risk it after saving hard for so long.
I went in to First Choice Travel Shop and the girl told me they've heard all about the complaints. She said they've got customers going there who are dreading it, and she didn't blame me for wanting to change. She also said they are convinced it is the pool to blame for the sickness bug!!
Although that came from the shop girls and not First Choice ( makes a change from them saying they've not had any complaints though )
Just got to decide where to go now, but it won't be Egypt!
Hope all you who stick with it stay well!!
Thats a shame hubby and I went to Egypt for the first time last year, we are well travelled people and we did get the egypt belly it was our first time ever. For 2 days it hung around but it did not ruin our holiday, we just made sure we were close to the lavatory Joking apart though and reading between the lines of other threads it is my opinion that you or anyone steer clear from the water machines. I dreaded it reading all the reviews and thought we had better change but hubby is really reluctant to swap over to just anywhere at such a late stage. No disprespect to people who have been poorly but did they divulge into rich foods and over a little with alcohol or even not enough fluids in general.
Some of the reports now are quite positive. HV is a stunning place and I know because we stayed at the CSR last year and went around for a nose and again in my opinion offers alot more that the CSR.
If you are steering clear from Egypt all together then so be it and I hope you have alot of luck seeking out alternative holiday.
Take care and kind regards
Kazee
kazee we too stayed at crs last year and had a nosey at hv i dont think theres anything to worry about do you? i had cramps for one day just me, hubby and kids were fine.im in a panic as we have friends coming this year on my recommendation as they also had crap time in morroco. i go in 3 wks so i cant change hols for 9 peeps.
We stayed at HV last year when it opened. We were ok with tummy troubles but I do believe alot of it is pot luck in Egypt as some people seem to suffer and some don't. We had to stay in LTI Grand Azure for our first week as HV didn't open on time and there was always big queues for doctors, but luckily we were ok, My husband got it for half a day, but wasn't bad. We took Acidophyllis before and whilst we were there.
If it is really going to worry you and spoil your holiday thinking about it then I would change. Weve jst been to HV Turkey and had a fantastic time, alot bigger than the one in Egypt, but the kids prefered it as there was more to do. Food was great and the place was spotless, just a thought if you still fancied HV but didn't want to got to Egypt

T/conversation this morning with FC and they have finally informed me that they have recieved email from head office with regards to the problem that HV is currently having. Really positive yesterday about HV hence my previous thread, but now really dont know what to do for the best.
Busy looking on internet and chasing reviews for update, certainly dont want to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire (so to speak)....................

The reviews are great but wondering if this is a sickness epidemic FC wont cease the issue unless it is closed down for a short while. My worst fear is arriving there at Sharm airport and be taken to another hotel because once your there what can you do? I know this from previous experience, albeit it was not sickness but an alleged overbooking incident, this was with FC.
Kazee
Hi,
Nope, just letting travel shops they are aware of the issue.
