Hi
we were one of the families who were ill during the 2 weeks in June when a lot of people suffered and I mean were really ill - I know because I was one of them - we did not overindulge with food or alcoholic drink (we couldn't even if we wanted to because of the sickness etc.) as we had our 2 small children with us, who incidentally were both ill and we take our responsibilities as parents seriously. we did visit the chemist a few times and saw the doctor who as I said before said we weren't suffering from dehydration or sunstroke, and we were still suffering upon our return home.
I have come on here again because I am fed up with people suggesting we are moaners etc. believe me all we wanted was a good holiday. we loved the HV as a resort but were concerned about hygiene and food standards whilst we were there.
maybe the two weeks we were there(9th-23rd June) was when the illness was at its worst and FC have managed to sort any problems they had at the resort out because I am glad to see that good reviews are coming back now but we would never go back to Egypt and take the risk of being so ill again.

Hi Louise

I am sorry you have been left with a bad memory of your holiday to Egypt.

I was wondering if you could confirm if you visited your doctor after returning home and if so could you confirm the outcome of any tests that were done.

We are travelling in August and it would be great to know what the doctors confirmed the problem was.

thanks

hi all just a quick wee note as trying to get washing done nightmare in this weather
yes i did get the bug but went and got tablets as soon as it started was great within a couple of hours. food never seen such a good selection it was all covered you where spoiled for choice never seen any half cooked food the 2 weeks i was there! There was 4 of us away so in the mornings we were lifting about 20 bottles of water we emptied the mini fridge and used this for are water when we drunk one we put another one in.You really need to drink plenty of water as its really really hot 40 in the shade and when we were there it hit the 50's so stay away from alcohol the first one i had was about 6.30 at night and we only ever had about 5 a night !if there is anything i can help anybody just ask! about the swim up rooms yes there is only 2 sunbeds per room these rooms are beautiful real luxury! and just to let you know i'm looking to book to go back next year! also kids club or wavelength brillant the staff work really hard to make sure kids have a ball! my 2 did! we never seen much of them,so much for them to do 11 and 13 year old ! kids happy i'm happy !

The wavelength club starts from 8 years.
When I took my kids for the jabs we didn't tell them and whilst we were on our way in the car hubby told my daughter we have to go to the doctors to get some medicine for the hol,she piped up from the back "well you could of gone and got it for us,we don't need to come". We eventually told them in the waiting room and my son ran off,but they were fine in the end. Ha Ha.

hi katiesmum my daughter was 11 to she was in with the 9 till 11 year olds then the next one was 12 till 15 year olds at night time 8.30 till 10.30 they all got to together. the times of the clubs where 10.00 till 11.30 then 12.00 till 1.30 then 2.30 till 4.00 then 4.30 till 6.00 then 8.30 till 10.30 so the staff really work hard

Yes sorry the wavelength starts at 9 years.
Brandolady: What did your children think of the clubs? My 2 found them quite babyish and boring. I think my daughter who is 9 spent 2 hours one day making a dress out of a bin liner.
I think it's the only part i felt a bit dissapointed in was the kids clubs, but saying that they have to be so careful nowadays what with people wanting to sue over the slightest thing.

Hi Brando

Glad you had a great holiday!
the kids clubs looks great! :D
Are they quite strict with the ages?? I have a 9 year old (10 in Sept) and a 14 year old..going with my sister and 13 year old.. Not sure if I can get my 9 year old into a club on her own! the hours of the clubs look like they will keep them busy and us parents relaxed! :sun2
Did you see the gym? What type of room did you have? thinking that maybe to go for a select and pay the extra if its worth it!

really looking forward to this holiday now..got loadsa summer stuff in the Next sale!

33 SLEEPS!!!!!!!! :rofl :cheers

Hi hill70 I think they are fairly strict with the ages in the kids clubs but sometimes the wavelength are all together mostly in the evening I think. I stayed in a standard room and it was huge and there were 4 of us, not too sure what you get extra in select rooms I think its kettle, dvd player, and dressing gowns but the standard rooms were great.

hi carlowanne, my son has just got to that stage of putting his face in the water and doing a star! but his lessons have finished for the summer hols so i want to keep up the swimming. :tup can i book it at the hotel when we arrive or does it get over booked, in which case should i book before we go? :que
my 13yr old son wants to know what are the best activities to do inside the wavelength club or outside in the grounds of the hv?

hi justine
we booked the swimming lessons at the welcome meeting with no problems they give you a card with the times of the lessons on it, bring that with you because a few times they had mixed up the lessons and didn't have his name down but that was easily fixed. my 14 year old daughter enjoyed the wavelength she did archery they did a survivor afternoon, raft building, and lots more there was usually something she liked everyday hope he likes it too

Hi Justine

Does that mean your 13 year old is going to join the wavelength club!?! :yikes

i think outside activities will be the snorkeling and if his dad is brave enough maybe scuba diving ;) i know we will be sticking with the snorkeling! my girls dad isnt brave enough ;)
I have read that the water park isnt great so doubtful that we will doing that!

To all the peeps that have already been...
I have read that you have to buy duty frees in the first 48 hours :que and the airport is really strict with the weight of the suitcases. For the duty frees you have to go on a trip? is this right?
And do you wish you were there again???
