Discussions regarding holidays in Egypt.
Ive just booked my holiday for Oct 09 and selected for a late check out room and it was only £20, FC seem to make their prices up as they go along. Also can anyone confirm if they have swim up rooms with young kids, as some one was telling me yesterday that thats probably why there was no choice of a swim up room on my room selection because I have a 4yr old coming with us, wondered if this is the case - thanks x

Hi Michelle
We wanted to book a swim up room when we made our booking in May 07 - we were advised that, due to H&S, children under 12 are not allowed to stay in them. I did read somewhere (can't recall where now) that this rule had been relaxed but, when I asked our local FC, they said that wasn't the case. They suggested that maybe the hotel were reallocating rooms on arrival if specific requests were made but were unlikely to do this during peak times. The upshot is that, as our kids are 8&9, we weren't offered the option of a swim up room either.

To all who are soon departing to HV - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!

Only 11 sleeps to go until I get on that plane............................................. :cheers

They offered a swim up room to a couple with a 22month old toddler when I was there!
I think the hotel now allow children in the swim up rooms, but First Choice havent a clue as to what goes on in the hotel!
Its best to email the hotel for advice at holidayvillage@coralsearesorts.com

Hi Michelle
We booked our holiday to the HV in May, for this september stay, and i asked FC if the rules had been changed, regarding allowing children under 12 into the swim up rooms. She said from May 2008 children of all ages would be allowed to stay in these rooms. I've got a 3yr and 6yr old, and we eventually went for the kids den room instead. does this mean FC have changed the rules AGAIN?? :que

Hi peeps
Yes the rules have changed we booked this Sept holiday in May 07 and booked the swim up rooms. I read on HT about the change and spoke to FC about this. The reply was they were not aware however, couple of weeks later I did recieve a letter from FC confirming that the age restriction has been removed from May 08 and this was a decision by the hotel.

Hope this assists.

Hiya
We are going with our 12 month old and booked a swim up room in January as we were unaware that there was an age limit. It didn't say anything on the first choice website when we booked it.
I emailed the hotel about 2 weeks ago and asked if there was still an age limit and they said that it has been lifted which is brill for us! 8 weeks to go for us!

Ok thanks for your replies, think I may email the hotel then, although its bloody yonks away for us - 64 weeks lol. Have a lovely time to those of you going soon xxx

Hi everyone,

I have never been on a forum before so hope I'm doing this right!!
We have booked to go to HV on the 28th August with some family who have been before and thought it was fantastic (especially for the kids). After reading the reviews on various sites I am now apprehensive to say the least. We are travelling with our two children who are 3 and 11 months and am really worried about them due to the tummy bug thing.
There are a few things I wondered if somebody had the answers to!!
Are the kids dens big enough for the cot to go in? If so, will upgrade to this so the kids can have a nap in peace etc....and us lol!
Do straighteners work??
Can you buy nappies, swim nappies and baby food jars (would rather not chance the food with my 12 month old)??

If anyone could help me with this would really appreciate this.
We are really looking forward to going and like I say, our relatives loved it!

Hi Esther 0908

I have read from previous comments that the kids den are really good but they mentioned that the height was not the same as the main room. I would of booked a kids den..nice to have space between us adults and little cherubs!..but I have a 14 year old so she is classed as an adult! if you have the money I would change!?!
Just read a comment that the GHDs did work there..good again for our 14 year old (and me if I can be bothered!)
We will be there when you get there..you'll spot me cos I'll still be white! lol :rofl (I get bored sunbathing!)
The latest comments have been really good and more positive and there should be more in a few weeks because there have been several going in the last few days.

I have today bought some suncream..first thing I have bought so far!
How many bottle do others recommend I should buy.. got a factor 50 x 2. factor 30 x 2, factor 15 (wishful thinking for the last few days!)

only 27 sleeps yipee :sun2 :cheers :rofl

Hi Esther

I am also taking a 12 month old there in september and was really worried however the reviews are starting to get a lot better so i'm not worrying so much now.
I'm taking nappies and some food with me for my little one as I have heard that they do nappies but not neccesarily in the size that you want, not sure about jars though. I'm just going to take packet foods for him for his evening meal, weetabix for his brekkie and let him eat dinner in the restaurant.
Hope that helps a bit.

Natalie.

Glad to hear you had a fab holiday..hope all 15 of you enjoyed yourselves!
Would love to hear your tips on how to make the most of the time there. Did the tablets from H & B work?
What type of room did you have? we have a standard booked and are wondering if we should upgrade to a select..we are also going to email the hotel to see if they would allow 4 peeps into a swim up room..gotta try these things!

Look forward to your reply and your review.

Thanks

Sorry me again....

We are going Sept 24th for 2 weeks.

Myself, my wife our 2 kids (Boy 4, Girl 1), My mother and my in-laws. Counting the days already.

We've been to the Pegasos Palace in Turkey (2006) which was fantastic.

A few questions about Holiday Village Red Sea.

1. Is there somewhere to buy size 5 nappies and swim nappies?
2. Can Jarred baby food be easily bought on site?
3. Has anyone used the on site SCUBA diving centre?

Snorkels can be bought in Sharm. The sea is very shallow and only waist deep at the end of the jetty. If you bear to the left at the end of the jetty there is an area of coral just before the drop off into deeper water. We only found out about this on the day we were coming home. :rofl
