Porto Bahia is my favourite restaurant on the island. We go to Lanz 2 or 3 times a year and I have to visit there at least once each time.
We normally stay in Matagorda and have never had a bad meal at any of the restaurants in the centre there. My favourite is the one overlooking the beach, below Barties Irish Bar.
One thing I feel I should mention about the Chinese restaurants in Lanz is that there is an awful lot of MSG in their food, so anyone with an allergy to it should bear that in mind. My husband can eat chinese dishes in the UK but is really ill if he eats anything in Lanzarote because of his reaction to MSG.
the place next to bodega , it is gorgeous. and cafe ola went last night was beautiful
Puerto Viejo in PDC old town, food excellent, service excellent, wine excellent - what more can I say. What better way to spend an evening overlooking the harbour with a nice bottle or 2 watching the world go by!!!
Been looking at the topic looking out for places to eat in CT but only one or two mentioned, we are off in a weeks time, any help with where to eat on a bit of a budget would be great
We found Shanghai was a good chinese (we went twice) and it was probably the cheapest meal we had. The first time we had 1/2 duck between 3 of us and that was a meal in itself, but the main courses were good too.
We tried a couple of Indian restaurants but they were fairly average (Taj Mahal & Tandoori Palace).
The Swiss restaurant Ticino was good and not too pricey (also a bit different) and Bogarts was very good for pizza.
We went to El Patio but found it over priced and nothing special
We also went to Columbus twice. This is in the Cucharas shopping centre and does 2 menus, one Tex Mex and grills, one Italian (plus a third for pizzas) - good size meals, plenty of choice and a bit cheaper than the 2 italian-type restaurants in the same square.
A bit further out (3-4 mins walk) from Las Cucharas there are a few Restaurants and bars (e.g. Cactus Jacks, Legends, La Gioconda, La Otra, Ferraris, an Irish bar....) This was on our way into town so a couple of times we stopped for happy hour and, er, forgot to go into town and ate around here. My pick of these was La Otra - a small restaurant mainly doing take away, but fantastic pizza and pasta (plus other dishes) and any of the wine was available by the glass. An extra bonus - the red wine was chilled.
None of the restaurants we went to were particularly cheap, and I 'm sure that there are others that are cheaper but we paid between 45 and 65 Euros for meals for 3 with drinks (normally a couple of beers, bottle of wine and couple of soft drinks)
Thank you very much for all that info We are staying at the Sands Beach resort, got a good deal and it sounds ideal for my 18 month old Grandson, I have been to Lanzorote a couple of times before but not CT. I will have a good luck through the info and jot the names down, I know it's got very expensive everywhere as of late but I am sure if we budget well we will be ok. Oh and we are all none drinkers so that will help
thank you

Just back from PDc again. Having been visitng for the past 12 years, sometimes twice a year, we ventured to a lovely little Mexican restaurant in the Old Town called Emma's Cantina. We had never heard of it before reading about it on this thread and on the recommendations made we thought we would try it. Wow - absolutely fantastic. Hospitality, food and ambience could not be faulted. We are lovers of mexican food but rarely go to any of the other so-called Mexican Restaurants in PDC, having tried them all before and not being particularly impressed. Most restaurants do mexican and 'other' food, however Emmas Cantina only specialise in authentic mexican and it showed. Can very highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates quality food at very reasonable prices and I for one can say I will definitely be dining there again on my next visit.
Romantica Grill - on the main shopping street one row back from the seafront - better value as it's not on the front and the food and service is really good. fantastic steaks...
Los Hervideros - into the non-touristy part of town and frequented by locals as well as in-the-know holidaymakers and ex-pats. without doubt the best value place in town, run by a lovely family who speak perfect english and always recognise a repeat customer, who will be rewarded with a generous measure of liquer of choice on the house. really good fresh fish.
Aromas - a relatively new addition and a bit more adventurous in terms of cuisine. not as cheap as some, but well worth it for an occasion - proper fine dining with service to match.
La Era in Yaiza - a beautiful old building, lots of character and really interesting food.
All deserve a visit...enjoy!
I wanted to warn people who, like me, may have rated Larni's at the Marina Rubicon as a decent place to eat in the past.
Watch out, its not now. Slow service, cold or poorly cooked food, long waits etc. I watched as many people complained and sent back their dinner. There seemed to be at least one adjitated person per table swinging on their chair trying to catch the attention of an elusive waiter so they could complain.
I'll not set foot back there again, its a shame as I was there in March and it was a complete contrast.
I shall merge your post with our recommended restaurants topic so that it doesn't get lost on the forum.
just come back we ate at la provence in costa teguise lanzarote on many nights every meal was brill and large portions too staff very freindly prices i would say average

Nothing has changed in the last couple of months as we also had a poor experience there as they forgot to bring one of our three dishes and the other two were tepid at most. The service was very slow and in the end I had to go inside to find a waiter to get the bill despite being the only people left outside
Ooo, can't wait to go to PDC in March and try some of the recommendations.
There is an amazing italian resteraunt in Playa Blanca called Lartista. The food is amazing and the staff are friendliest I have ever come across.
I will agree that the performance laid on by the waiters was quite entertaining.
We ranged around the area quite a bit during our fortnight and for Italian food thought that Il Comendatore on Marina Rubicon to be the best place.
If you like fish then the Zarzuela (a kind of a fish stew) is fantastic.
The fillet steak is wonderful.
I thought L'arista was a bit pricey too.
We ate at several of our old favourites but very disappointed, they seem to have forgotten what a fillet steak is and are trying to fob their customers off with cheaper cuts of meat.
Oh, if you like fish and chips, don't miss the New Londoner. Its situated down the Strip across from the Aquarium, in the square behind the Dubliner and next to Arthurs bar. The fish batter is perfect.
I should mention the Brian Boru bar, I asked for a large beer during their happy hour which was 1.5 euro.I asked for it in a straight glass as opposed to a jug with a handle. The woman behind the bar told me she had been told by the Boss to charge me an extra 50 cents. I asked why and she said it was because it held more beer. It's not as if they fill them to the top anyway. Took my custom next door.
can anyone tell me what restaurants and bars are open at the moment in the Faro Park complex ?
Had some great meals while in Playa Blanca last week , top of the list is Transylvania in La Mulata (next to Natura hotel) it now has a greek themed menu alongside normal menu , it was absolutely fantastic, both food and service and also reasonably priced. Also El Argentino is worth a visit if you like steak and good wine. (same area) Also the mexican food in Don Camillo (main seafront) was really good, and also try Jasmine chinese (opposite the taxi rank and up a bit) good food and good value.
