Thanks a million for all the tips. OMG can't believe the size of the site its huge. Can you see Estartit town in this photo? Was thinking of either booking with Siesta or Keycamp so will check out what areas the mobile would be in. I read somehwere that go4spain.net hadn't great mobiles so think I'll steer clear from them. Never thought of the noise so thanks a million for that. Do you think its necessary to hire a car?
Thanks a million
Always worth thinking about the noise, what time of year are you looking to go? We usually go during the quiet times of the year, mid May or late September
I never liked Go4Spain's original mobiles, but they upgraded them a few years back and they are much better, best to check them out on their website and see what you think
You can't see the town in that pic, this is a better one
When we were there last year there were a lot of Irish families using Thompson lodges
We're hoping to go 30 June for 2 weeks have always gone away 10 June before but my son is starting school and my other son will be in 3rd class so was hoping not to have to take them out this year. Do you think it'll be very busy this time of year?
I think I'll email the companies and see where their mobiles are based and decide that way. Keycamp have a 3 bed mobile for the same price of a 2 bed with go4spain.net. I'm not sure whether to go for a 2 bed or 3 bed either. I think I might go to a place that sells mobiles here and see what they look like inside, its very hard to judge when you don't know what you're even talking about
I'm delighted I've decided on the site for the definite so thats something anyway
Thanks a million
What are they Paradisio?
The town is a leisurely 15 min walk away but there is a free bus from the camp every hour, you just show your camp pass.
Ye know, i don't think i've ever caught the free bus in my many many times there!!
We stayed with Go4Spain and although it was an older van it was clean and more than big enough for what we wanted. They are changing their vans this year to ones that look the same as the lifestyle and siesta vans so should be better again. We stayed in the blue area and it is perfectly located. 2-5 mins from all amenities and far enough away from it all at night.
I believe that Siesta are quite exspensive .... lots of extras to pay for but my advice is shop around because that is what gets a lot of them the extras (linen, towels, BBQ, Air Con etc).
We travelled with 3 girls, 6, 11 and 18 and they all said it was the best holiday they have had and all begged to go back....ther are some horror stories written about this place and i have to admit before we went i was sceptical but we couldnt fault it apart from the sunbed hire (4 euros per bed) but a couple of cheap li-los and hey presto no more sunbeds needed.
Glad you enjoyed! To be fair, any bad reviews i've seen tend to be more in the real high season around July, so you should have been ok going in late August. Fantastic campsite, with great facilities, although in recent years it has been getting expensive to the ridiculous stage for drinks, etc. Don't start me about those sunbed charges either, would never entertain them!!!
cider your right about the sunbeds .... that was the only real gripe, must admit thought i didint think the drinks were that bad 4.20 for a vodka and coke which when you compare the measures doesnt stack up that badly and the shop seems to be bit hit and miss...they had some good deals on certain things but others were ridiculous...thing is no matter where you go in spain if you buy british brands you will pay well over the odds...stick the the lesser known (spanish) brands and you can still get some good deals...
Depends on where you are from when it comes to the drink. I can still go into a local Wetherspoons and get two doubles for the price of one drink in Castell Montgri
Anyway, I am sure we will enjoy it, but one question - how do we get to Lidl please?
Many thanks
You'll pass the LIDL on the way in to the site, so you will see how close it is. However, if you are going from the site, when you pass the security gate at the front, turn right and head along the dirt track instead of heading for the main road. Walk along this track until you come to a petrol station, and you can take short cut through here and walk straight across the road to LIDL
Thank you, I feel much happier now, looks like we have picked a good time to go We are going with Siesta, which is also a new experience, as we normally fly & have a car. Might still have car for a couple of days though, as We really fancy having a look around and calella De Palafrugall looks lovely!
CDP is definitely well worth a visit, such a beautiful area around there
did you stay onsite for entertainment, or did you venture outside? We used to love going to the Itaca / Jimmy's Cellar, but it's always been closed early season in recent years, and i used to quite enjoy the Saratoga, but i feel they went well out of their way to attract smokers last year given that some bars are now non-smoking, and that just chased me away!!
I must say though, before we went I was worried because of all the talk of gangs of teens hanging around and casuing trouble at the pool etc.I neednt have worried at all.It was no problem. There were a lot of teens but they were just having a fun holiday the same as everyone else.
Hi going to Castell Montgri July 09 but can't decide between Siesta 6 or 8 lodge and Lifestyle 3 bed ruby Has anyone stayed in either of these, would love to hear some feed back my heads wrecked trying to decide
Hello Jacqui0. We stayed in a lifestyle ruby 3 in June this year. It was a lovely van in an excellent spot (Groc). We recieved a free gas BBQ when we arrived which we used every day. The reps (Mike & Trish) were excellent & were always available if needed. We stayed in a Siesta 8 lodge four years ago & whilst it was good, when we priced it up for this year Lifestyle was much better value. Hope this helps.
We had no problems at the site itself and the setting is lovely. We enountered no rude staff or anything like that. Infact we found the people in general to be more friendly than further south. My 9 yr old daughter cut her leg whilst walking in to town, so we went to the pharmacy to ask for some plasters. The assistant sat my daughter down and bathed her leg for her, which wouldnt happen over here!
The site is hilly, but that didn't cause any problems for us personally. The kids loved the big pool (others were shut) and the evening entertainment was well organised. There was a spanish lady (the one wearing glasses), who seemed to organise everything, she made such a big effort with the rodeo, gladiators etc, the kids just loved it, so Thank you to her.
Found Lidl with no problem and it was good it being so close.
I never thought I would say this but I would be happy to go again, but would stick with the quieter times of the year though.
