lfc4eva,
All the information is on the Thomsonfly thread / Thomsonfly website. TOM have a different policy than most other airlines and depends if you are a flight only or package customer. You are allocated a combined 25kg allowance which can comprise of up to 25kg hold and 10kg hand. As long as each component adds up to no more than 25kg, with no more than 10kg hand luggage. For example, you could take 15kg hols and 10kg hand, or 23kg hold and 2kg hand.

can shoes be carried in hand luggage ? - Just looked on airport lists of does and dont's and they aren't mentioned but don't want them confiscated as a potential weapon or some such ? Thinking that if shoes are ok someone could take high heals that would be pretty much a weapon... ??
I put all my shoes in my hand luggage when I flew in June, inc stilettos,no problems.
ok thanks for that !...
Hi People, I know this is lazy of me, but without reading the whole thread...... does anybody know if I can take electrical goods in my hand luggage? I.e. Straightners, hairdryer, iron...... I'm flying from Gatwick.
Yes you can.
Thanks Judith
Hi, Is Thomas Cook still applying 1 item rule! If so, does that mean I cant take a small handbag as well as my flight bag? I had no problem in January when I flew with Cathay Pacific to Oz from Heathrow! Im going from Gatwick this time!
Hi racegirl ... you would need to check the websites of all airlines and airports involved in your itinerary, to determine how many pieces of hand luggage are allowed. If any of them only allow one item, then your handbag would need to fit within the flight bag.
I am travelling with Thomas Cook on 17th September to Las Vegas from Manchester.
I am getting married over there and need to take my dress with me. I had intended to take it as hand luggage (it is not a huge dress).
However, I am having trouble getting a small case/bag big enough for the dress but small enough to fit TC dimensions.
They specify 43x28x23cm incuding wheels and handles!, which I consider to be really small compared to other airlines and the airport itself specifying 56x45x25 cm - this size would be perfect!
I can find the smallest cases that are about 46x30x20 etc, but was wondering how strict they would be.
The security checks for the hand luggage would surely be looking at the airports requirements - It would take them ages to check everyones luggage against their individual airline specifications? Or do they check your hand luggage size when you check in your suitcases?
I don't want to put my dress in the hold - I have previously experienced lost cases - and don't want to take the chance!
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Do you know that there are very specific boxes which you can buy in order to take a wedding dress as hand luggage ? Apparently they are smaller in size than the hand luggage limitations of most airlines, but still big enough to accommodate a wedding dress. Because it is a specialised item, it will no doubt be more expensive than buying a small case, but it is an option you may want to consider. Google, or your wedding dress shop, may help you find a local supplier.

I must check the dimentions of the carry on with Ryanair as I think it is slightly larger than JET2

I honestly don't think it could have been anywhere near that. Anyway they weighed our hand luggage and as we only had 5kgs each where we were allowed 10kgs, they let us off with 10kgs.
Still cost £50, but would cost £90 this year so I shall be weighing the cases and hand luggage very carefully.

I will be doing the same as it is £29 Per Kilo with Singapore Airlines and at that rate it is just out of the question. My new scales were really bought with this in mind and they are incredibly accurate.
Can i put nail varnish in my hand luggage? One is 8ml and the other is 10ml. I was just sorting my things out and dont want to put them in my suitcase incase they smash!!
Yes you can, but you will need to put them together in a small 20cm x 20cm. sealable transparent plastic bag, otherwise they will be confiscated. I use a ziplock sandwich bag.
Not 100% sure about nail varnish as it's a flammable material. Best to check with the airline's website.
Probably best to do so but I have carried it in hand luggage on at least six flights each year since the new regulations came in to force without problems. Some countries do not allow any liquids at all to be carried in hand luggage, so you need to check if this is applicable.
Thanks Judith, as I said I wasn't sure so happy to be corrected.
