I've also been to Mallorca twice this year, and both times I've had to walk through what I class as departures which is full of food outlets, I'm sure most will be open at 5.30pm. There is also a snack bar outside arrivals and another if you go across the walkway towards the car park.

I fly from East Midlands, and usually buy a meal deal in the Boots there - its cheaper than using the inflight service, healthier and the range of food is much better. Probably cheaper than the fast food outlets as well.

Hi, we are thinking of traveling to Majorca this summer and was just wondering what days of the week are the busiest at the airport so i can try to avoid them!

Thanks,
Nick

hi,
with majorca being a popular destination in the summer, you will most likely find that airlines such as Thomson, First choice and EasyJet fly to Palma everyday, so it is likely to be quite busy almost every day. there maybe many more airlines that fly there too, again adding to the volume of traffic.

Palma airport will be busy every day as previous postholders have said. However, I've been quite a few times, and it has always been extremely well organised. There is a long walk from the planes to the baggage area, so by the time you get there, its not normally too long a wait for your bags to arrive.

There have often been quite long queues for checking in, but again, its always been organised and I've not had a problem. The worst part has always been going through security - make sure you leave plenty of time for that as that's the longest wait. Once through you get the duty free part, but then its quite a walk to some of the gates, so don't leave it until the last minute to get to them.

If you do decide to go you'll have a great time. I'm hoping to go in June and August, and I can't wait. :cheers

Best airport in the world , plenty of eating places and a smoking room :tup

Uk airports are so poor in comparison , like most things i guess :rofl

Can you smoke in them airports ?

There are smoking lounges in all of those airports.

I think it would be a good idea to re-introduce smoking rooms in all UK airports. The nervous flier could well do with a ciggie especially if you have to check in 3 hours prior to departure on long haul flights.

The one that was at Gatwick was well-ventilated and you couldn't smell the smoke outside so I don't see how it was hurting anyone.

Nice to know there's still one at Palma :tup

Exactly you can get slightly drunk , and slobber around but you cant even have a smoke for hours .. Uk namby pamby laws all wrong as usual ..

Palma airport has it all , i like the airport its easy to get around plenty of snack bars , toilets , seating and smoking :tup

Just left Majorca for first time after holiday with my wife and four young kids, after taking an hour and a half to get through check in and security, this left us with hardly any time to get any desperate refreshments for the kids. Do not waste time queuing to buy food in first shopping area you walk through. Go to your gate departure where there are loads of other shops and far less queues. They are all still a rip off as its 6.60E for a basic ham sandwich, crisps 2.0E.
If you need to snack food while waiting for boarding, take butties with you, not a lot you can do with the water issue though, they have you by the balls on that one, just got to buy it at the cost they sell it at.

When in Majorca, I always save up loose euro change, give half to the maid and then spend the rest on a snack at the airport. It's just like collecting in a bottle at home.

You can take empty bottles through security, once through you can find drinking fountains by each set of toilets. The water is chilled, filtered and good to drink. So fill your bottles up, and avoid the nasty airport charges. If you must buy food, then head to McDonalds in section C, they charge the same as they do outside the airport.

If you are doing your own thing, and have a hire car, you could always stop off at ikea on the way - nice meatballs there!

i cook my own crispy bacon buttys for me.far cheaper than boots.just get my water from boots.

Are we allowed to take food in hand luggage through security to airside? If we are is that both in the UK or just in Palma?

You can take food with no problems at all, it's the liquids that they're bothered about.
