Meanwhile Mexico is larger than that so you need to be more specific about where you are going. We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Coba and there were three lots of dolphin experiences within half an hour's journey. If we can tie the one you will be using down, you can be prepared.

I am not positive but the one that is probably closest to you is Xcarat, however there is also the Puerto Aventuras experience.
My daughter did the PA when she went, but my son did the Xcarat one when we all went last year.

The way it was described to us, the Puerto Aventuras one for a slightly higher price - no idea what it is though - included swimming with dolphins, sea lions and manitees.

Xcarat is a theme park where you can spend the whole day.
Our party booked and paid for the trip and dolphin experience, even confirming the time, before we arrived, but when you get there you have to queue to confirm your slot and find out which area you have been allocated to. As this is still th egeneral melee of people who have turned up to book on the day it can be time consuming so don't get too early a slot as you will still be in the queue!
They then went to the area and were given a lecture on what would happen. They split up into groups of about 6 and got into the water to meet their dolphins. By accident or design the whole set up is staged so that the on site photographers get the only decent shots. At the end of the experience everyone is led to a viewing room where you can see a DVD of the performance and all the photos taken. You can purchase a couple of printed photos or even the DVD with all the photos on. If I recollect the photos were $25 each but I may be slightly wrong. The DVD was something well over $100.

We arrived at the park at 9:30 and by the time they had finished the experience and escaped the viewing room, it was around 1:00 which left us a bit short for the rest of the park, but we did the river swim and stayed on and watched the show in the evening.

Hi - We stayed at the Tequila a couple of years ago. The best trip at the time was over to the Island of Cozumel. We were picked up at the hotel and taken to the ferry. I think the foot crossing was roughly half an hour. At the other side we were taken by bus to an eco park. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. There wasn't much to do there, but there was a sealion show. A choice of meals & a drink was included, as was snorkelling equipment. The sea life there was stunning. Buy one of the throw away under water cameras, & click away. We did the "Royal swim" which was by far the best. The dolphins are in large pens in the open sea. You are given life jackets so you don't have to be a strong swimmer. You are shown a video first so you know what's going to happen, and you each get an individual kiss from the dolphins, plus two individual moves - the "nose push" and "the cross". You will not believe how clever these creatures are. You also spend some time swimming as a group with them. All individual shots are captured by a trained photographer, but there is no hard sell. You then return into Cozumel and have a couple of hours free time here before returning to the hotel. I presume you can do the trip DIY, but we found it easier to go as an organised tour. A brilliant experience - not to be missed. It's not cheap, but if I could only afford 1 trip - then that would be it. Anything else you need to know - just ask.

yes your are right it may cost a bit more , but you also seem to get more as well ,if i was at home i would do diy but not when i am away in another country & cant speak there langeuge i wont.i think i will stick to the reps . thank you for the info , at least i know a little bit more now.

The Chankanabb park in Cozumel is really good for swimming with the dolphins. We went there in september but didnt do it as we have done it the dom rep although our friends done the royal swim adventure and they really enjoyed it and the photos are excellent.

There is probably a place to do it nearer your hotel but Cozumel is really an amazing place to see

When we went to Xcaret we didnt swim with the Dolphins but we were in the same large pool as the people who were swimming with them.We were separated by a fence.There were lots of people in the dolphin pool so I dont know if you can swim with them on your own.We went to Xcaret with a local taxi driver who was absolutely brilliant.He stayed with us all day and we did what we wanted in our own time instead of being moved along in a group with the tour reps.We only paid the admission fee which I think was $35 and the taxi fare from Cancun.You are very near to it in Puerto Del Carmen.It is a lovely park with lots of wildlife and a show on the evening on the river.

That's confused me.
At our hotel, the reps booked you on the Xcarat buses but didn't actually accompany you at all.
On the Xcarat bus we were given tickets by an Xcarat rep, told where to meet up at the end of the evening show and then pointed at the entrance, from there on we were on our own.
What was annoying was that we still had to queue in the melee even though the Dolphins were pre-booked.

Paisey dont worry about not speaking Spanish as that part of Mexico is very very popular with Americans and Canadians and all the locals we met spoke perfect English.You are very near to Xcaret and there will be taxis outside your hotel.
