Hey guys
Just a few questions about a trip to Thailand I will be planning with a friend around May/June. I plan to go for about 2 weeks.
I've been to Koh Samui and Bangkok before when I was much younger, and from reading several reviews and such, I hear its changed dramatically over the past 5 years or so - especially all of the islands. My first question is: whats the weather like in May/June for the south of Thailand? I hear that there are two monsoon seasons that hit Thailand at different times. So what kind of weather can I expect?
Ideally I would like to go when it is not monsoon season...so if one part of Thailand has the monsoon season in May/June, what are some good islands that are not affected by the season?
If I decide to go in the monsoon season, does it typically rain all day or all night? Or both?
Keeping the answers above in mind - I would like to avoid the built up islands such as Koh Samui, Phuket, etc etc...I would ideally like to spend a relaxing couple of weeks with not alot of partying - maybe the occasional bar - and alot of exploring and island hopping. I'd really like to go snorkelling, hire a canoe and generally experience the culture and what it has to offer. Then again, I dont want to be too isolated - as in not much to do for 2 weeks. Are there such islands?
I plan to budget the trip to about £1600 to £1800 per person. I've done some rough research on how much hotels cost (hostels), and boat rides, plane tickets etc will cost. Has anyone done it on this budget? Is it do-able? Will I need more?
I think thats all for the moment! Thanks for your help!
Sam
Budget- I would have said this time last year that it was more than enough but I'm finding flight prices have gone sky high( sorry about the pun ). Have you had a look for flights yet?
As I haven't actually holidayed in May or June then hopefully others who have will be more help to you.
Eva Air have some good deals on flights at the moment if you book before December.
And Thai Airways are doing a free internal flight if you book on the phone before end of November
