I cannot help you with a villa. I suggest that you look for a villa somewhere along the coast between Fethiye and Bodrum. There should be many to choose from.

I am sure that you will not find a heated pool, which in anycase, will not be neccesary in September. We swim in ours upto the end of October.

As for flights go onto the internet and you will see the prices from various companies who fly to Dalaman, Bodrum and to Antalya.

Have a look at the thread 'Turunc and advice on similar resorts'. Very similar requirements to yours. I've also put a link to our agents website there, she may be able to help you.

I'm sure you will find something that will suit you in Turkey as it has such a range of resorts. The places to avoid if you don't want somewhere too lively are Marmaris, Kusadasi and Gumbet, although you can find quiter parts of these resorts too.

I used to live in the Bodrum Peninsular and there are some nice resorts there that you could take a look at. I'm sure other people will give you some recommendations for other parts of Turkey too. have a look at some of the resort reports on this site and others too.

I don't think you will find anywhere with a heated pool but you really wont need it in early september.

Kalkan would be a nice place to rent a villa, this is a quiet resort but has plenty of restaurants and bars, most of which are roof top, so lovely views at night over the town and harbour.

We prefer a small and friendly hotel who arrange a private taxi for us at Dalaman, we just book our own flights.

Some of the villa's can be at the back of the town and would need a car or a taxi to reach the town and harbour,

i have just read some of the topics on here about turkey using and pricing in euros as well as lira. we chose turkey as a destination due to the fact that it had its own currency and we felt that it would be cheaper to go there than to have an equivalent holiday in a a country that just has euros (ie.spain). is turkey cheaper than the likes of spain or will the strength of the pound against the euro dictate what prices we pay?

I have been to Turkey many many times and have never used Euros.
Even in the resorts served by Antalya airport which are very popular with other Europeans prices are also in £1s
Most things are priced in pounds,lira and euros because Turkey has holiday makers from other parts of Europe.Before all those countries changed to the Euro the prices were in shown in all the currencies used in Europe.
If you look on the thread Monies on January 15th,you will see the prices we paid in Icmeler last October.The rate when we were there varied between 2.38 and 2.53.The local beer Efes was being sold at 1 and 2 TL in many bars which depending on the rate was between 37p and 40p!
Today in a travel agents they were advertising TL at 2.32 to the pound but in Turkey today the rate is 2.42tl to the £.
The best rate is by using a Nationwide Flex card and they dont charge for using it in Turkey.
I cant remember where I read that the TL is expected to be 3 to the pound by the summer.
It is excellent value for money but its the people what makes Turkey special.

Sorry slightly off topic, but it has been in the papers this week that Nationwide are no longer not charging for withdrawals abroad.
The Turkish Lira has not really changed in value against the pound since this time last year, would be good for holidaymakers if the rate does reach 3, but somehow doubt it!

when we were there in aug 08 it was 2.04 to the £. its around 2.40 now so does make a bit of difference, its been around 225-252 max over the last few mths as ive been monitoring my turkish bank wondering whether to change to lira or not

in istanbul it was near on impossible to use £ no one wanted it, we could only change in exchange office, even the bank refused us , not many shops or restaurants accepted it, but the resorts are fine

Alfie,Nationwide have said on their website they are not charging for using the Flex card in Europe and Turkey.

Why not have a look at Kalkan and it has over 100 lovely romantic rooftop restaurants and lovely cobbled bougainvillea streets with great browsing shops and small bars. Also has a lovely small pebble beach and Patara and Kaputas sandy beaches close by.

Is there a specific day of the week that the majority of flights fly into Dalaman from London airports. or is there various flights every day. we are flexible with our dates to travel so just wondered if any one day was better than the other?

You can get flights most days from Gatwick. Thomson & Girst Choice normally go on Mondays and Thursdays, Easyhet Tuesdays & Wednesdays. We are flying on a Friday in June with Monarch but they also do other days.

Stanstead do other flights and times but I find them more expensive.

Fridays and Mondays tend to be busy days at the airport so if you can avoid them the flights tend to be a bit cheaper and its quieter. Look at INVALID URL put the 2 airports in at the top select the month on the calendar and tick 'whole month' and you will get graphs that show you instantly where the cheaper flights are.
