This is a Flutterby farm in Lancaster:

You could combine that with the Lakes and Morecambe Bay/Mud

Along with ducks you can look out for Otters, Red Squirrels, Deer, Herons, Cormorants etc all in the Lake District.

Thanks Phoebe. We are near Formby and Ormskirk so we could do a day trip :tup I think the kids went to Martin Mere from school when they were younger.

How about the Norfolk Broads ?? Plenty of places to see wildlife au natural, or in zoos, like Banham Zoo which we thought was excellent. Also seals at Blakeney etc
Discovered this site which apart from having some excellent bird photos your son may enjoy, also offers customised bird watching trips which may be of interest.......(I understand that they have a relative with Aspergers Syndome which may be helpful) http://www.robwilsonphotos.co.uk :)

Otherwise what about somewhere in the vicintity of Slimbridge? http://www.wwt.org.uk/centre/122/visit/slimbridge.html. I remember many years ago staying at Slimbridge YHA to visit the wetlands centre - the hostel had a largish pond in it's grounds which was full of ducks etc

It's nice to see I'm not the only one with a relative who is fascinated by ducks! My brother Alan is 29 and has Aspergers - my parents recently bought him a digital camera and all he seems to have taken is photos of ducks at the local park. At least he doesn't make us sit though a slideshow of them.

I can't think of anywhere specific to recommend to you, although Alan has always enjoyed staying at Center Parcs villages where there are always lots of birds and animals around. Hope you manage to find something suitable!

Perhaps they have an affinity with animals when they find socialising with people more difficult. He's just started a course on digital photography and got a good one of a squirrel close up in the nearby park !!
