I've recently found a good deal online for next year for The Palace Hotel in Sliema. Unfortunately the deal has now gone and the price has gone up, but it has made me seriously consider Malta for next June. We went in June about 5 years ago and really liked it. We stayed in the Crowne Plaza Sliema, I'm not sure if it's still running under that chain or not. It was nice, but I didn't feel it was 5* which was what they said it was. I would return to that hotel but I've not seen it anywhere.
So, last time we stayed in Sliema. We liked to go into Valetta (did that a few days) and at night a few times we went into St Julian's and got a taxi back. We took bus or walked over. I felt the taxis were overpriced though. We didn't do the Paceville nightlife. We did go to one bar there, then also to a bar down the street and also to the Casino.
I'm thinking that despite the poor rates on the euro which may not change much, it could still be a reasonable holiday since I remember prices being pretty good in general - and we do like pasta etc, and also local wine and beer.
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice? We'd be flying from Glasgow.
Dave.
OMG I can't believe that! It was a big old fashioned hotel! It was nice and traditional, and they've probably switched it for something modern.
