Chilly or anyone out in goa now ...how did the new year go was the shacks closed after all

HI IC No they didnt close and there were loads of fire works, but many places were empty ..and it was more low key i think .. i went to a house party and we watched the fireworks from the roof but have spoken to a lot of people who were on the beach or in restaurants... the roads were certainly very quiet here candolim end.but i think everyone had a great time that I have seen to talk to

After a great deal of talking, and thinking things over, Tom and I are now going back to Goa, my sisters funeral is on the 9th of January, and we have booked a flight with Kingfisher for the 12th of January. This has been a big decision to take, but as Tom has said, we have had one hell of a year, 2008 is a year I would like to wipe off the calendar. The year started with acid thrown over my car, we got that resprayed, then the car was arsoned on my drive, I have been back and for courts, getting ASBOs on undesirable neighbours, they have moved now, but it was sheer hell until they went. There is not one window in my house that hasent been smashed this year. Then my father was in hospital for weeks, then my sister died. I have spoken to my parents who are both worried about my returning to India, but as I have explained to them we will only be in Mumbai to change planes. We are not staying there.

We have booked with Kingfisher a very good price for the two of us it is 590.00 pounds, we have lost the apartment, but the landlady has a self contained room that we can have. Our return date is 3rd of March, so at least we will have 7 weeks of sunshine.

I am not looking forward to the funeral, it is going to be a very upsetting time for everyone, but we know that Debra is out of pain. She was very brave, insisting on going shopping to buy her grandchildren there christmas presents, herself, and she was adamant that she was going to cook Christmas Dinner herself. I am glad to say that she didn't realise how ill she was.

I will be at the meets at the Carvery so I hope to see you all soon.

Gayle its very sad reading your post. I hope everything goes as well as can be expected on 9 January. As you say Debra is free of pain now and in a good place.
I hope the holiday to Goa will at least help you to unwind and relax a little and you will have a wonderful time at The Carvery meeting up with other people from HT, they are a marvellous bunch.

You certainly have had a year of it. March would seem a good time to go. I am glad your neighbours have moved on.

Not an easy decision to make Gayle, but I am sure it is the right one. Have a great holiday, as has been said, it is what your sister would want for you. Take care now and I know that everyone here will be thinking of you and your family on January 9th; a time of sadness and tears but also of joy and laughter as you celebrate Debbies life.
