just got off phone with direct holidays and they have definately stopped using the flamingo oasis , so i need to wait till tomorrow and phone customer services, am i within my rights to ask for a refund or do they class this as a 'minor change'' and force me to accept a change of hotel?
i booked in june 2008, when i phoned earlier the girl i spoke to said they werent using the flamingo and no one was being sent, phoned up again not to long ago and asked if anyone could deal with my enquiry as was told by someone different that although they arent taking anymore bookings for it if im already booked then unless i receive a letter stating otherwise, my holiday here is safe, and i wont be moved to a different hotel. 2 different stories being told.
Just been on Thomsons site it looks like new rooftop rules and rooms come into force in may. Carol
so thats 2 things to ask about tomorrow then, no rooftop access and maybe no flamingo at all, 1 question, if they still say my holiday is safe and im going to this hotel , should i follow it up in writing and ask them to guarantee the hotel and access to rooftop or refund my deposit?
This will be the last time we go as they want £336.00 extra for two people in a club room thats a rip off. Hope you get it sorted Audbod. Ask for compensation you never know. My brother has booked with thomsons for August and was not told about this either. This has been planned for a while as Dannyh found photos of the rooms a long time ago. Carol
this is the 1st holiday ive booked through a travel agent for a few years and it all goes wrong lol, think il stick to d.i.y from now on.
Actually Danny found photos of the club rooms the beginning of October last year so why didn't tour operators tell people when they booked the hotel. I do hope you get it sorted Audbod, it seems rather a mix up.
just got off phone to customer services and they say i will still be going to the flamingo. it is true they arent doing any new bookings but people already booked will still be going ,(so they say). they said that they dont know anything about the new rooftop area ruling but will email the reps in resort and get back to me. so i will give it till the end of the week and call them back , but im still going to put it in writing that i want a guarantee about this hotel, really dont want to arrive in alicante and be told im being moved to a 'better' hotel.
There is a new review of the FO where the member explains what is happening with the Club rooms/roof top bar.
a link would be nice.
I spoke to the reception manager just now very nice guy and he said its from May it will be only open to club roomers! he asked what date we was going and how long for and he said ''no problemo''
good news for some unfortunatly not for my friends son and his wife who go in August.
Thanks Danny.
Thankyou so much for getting that info, at least it's ok for us and your party, but not good at all for anyone booked in from May....
Thanks again, Linda x
i sent direct holidays an email asking for a written guarantee that i will be staying at the flamingo and that i will also have access to the rooftop area as stated in their brochure, they replied not too long ago by email basically saying it is 'unlikely' they will stop using the flamingo and if they do they will 'usually' honour any booking to stay there. not very clear and no guarantee either , can anyone advise what i should do now?
If they had put "you will definatley" be at the Flamingo Oasis, and they are still going to be using the F/O then you would have some comeback if it didn't happen. I also notice from your post that there's no reference to the rooftop pool.
If it were me, I would be contacting them again, and asking for a definate confirmation that you will be staying at the F/O and clarification regarding the rooftop pool/terrace situation.
When we were there in September, there were loads that I met who had been sent next door to the Melia, in fact they tried to do it to us, claiming they had only received a booking for the one room, and not a single room for my foster girl. I had the print out confirmation on me, and stood my ground and eventually got the single room, so you do need that booking/hotel voucher.
If you think it may be better to ring the hotel and speak to them, the number is:- 00 34 966813530.
Good luck with this, Linda.
Hi LindA - When in March are you there. Shirley H & I are in Beni the same time as Danny and Northants J - beginning of April - thankfully not at the Flamingo Oasis.
We're there 15th to 29th, so we'll just miss you all.......... Linda x
