Lester,
on getting backn to England and deciding to tell my story on this forum, I first got in touch with the moderators, I told my steory to Fiona to see if it was in the best interests of the people who go to Goa, I knew that there was going to be mixed feelings and take them with all the good and bad coments that would come my way, my wife died 12 months ago on monday the 19th of Jan, she was an H'ter and by the response received from all the other h'ters at the news of her death, she was well liked and popular, that is part of my reasons to go back to Goa, if you read back posts of ours you will see for your self why, I have been disabled for 16 years and each year it gets worse, I am a recent teetotaller, because I cannot leave the house without becoming distressed over Lynns death when people talk about her,and after sitting on the beach listening to people who have more problems I could cope with and choose to obliterate those problems with drink, I will not elaberate on my assault and stay in prison, because I have covered it, as for the religious beliefs of my family, that does't deserve any answers, I think the bottom line Lester is you do not think a disabled man should go on holiday and if they do, don't enjoy yourself, with the comments about my sisters belief you are probably an atheist, there is absolutely no reason for me to tell you anything but the truth but if you choose to think there is any sinister reasons other than I want the good people of this forum to be aware and if neccasary afraid of the bad side of Goa, then so be it.

Am on a borrowed laptop and struggling so I've asked for another Admin to check this thread please bear with us.

Glynis why would you do that :think this thread is very good reading

It refers to a post made by Lester Colleen. Some members are not happy with the comments.

Whilst not agreeing with Lester, I think it would be counter productive to close the thread etc .
Everyone should be allowed free speech and he wasn't insulting in his post.
I myself believe everything I am told unless I have a reason not to, perhaps Lester is bit more cynical than I.
Maybe Lester would change his mind if he thought for a minute. That if this story WAS fictional then too much work went into it for simply posting on an internet forum, especially as the earlier part of the account was first posted quite a while ago and was shown to be known to other members prior to posting.

:offtop
Sorry Dan if my rambling here reopens wounds.
I too have very sad feelings at this time of year, the 17th is when our son died, so you can take some comfort in knowing that you are not the only one who will be remembering someone loved this weekend.

Yes this should be kept open, a terrible ordeal to go through. One thing I hope everyone can gain from this is the absolute madness of getting drunk and incapable, without family and friends, in a foreign country. No matter where you are in the world, when you are on your own, it's absolutley imperative to keep your wits about you, and when the drinks in, the wits out.
Most people are of the opinion that taking up the role of the police in this with the Consulate, would be best, but after a lifetime visiting India, I doubt if it would serve any purpose. The media cover re the Scarlett case last year, does'nt seem to have had any affect on the police behaviour as is witnessed in this case. This is India and corruption is endemic in all levels of society, from the lowly massage girl paying off the police, right up to all levels of goverment. It's the way it is in India, and if you visit there you must accept this, as no way are you, as a visitor to the country, going to change this Alan

you didn't open any wounds, I am sorry for the loss of your son, it is not the normal way of things
, it must be the worsed thing in the world to outlive one of your children, I hope you get through the weekend without to much grief.
Take care and God bless Danny

I agree completely with what you say gramps. The only way we can protest is by not going but then it is a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face. We simply need to have our wits about us when visiting Goa. some things in this world will never change unfortunately.

I seem to have opened up a bit of a can of worms here. First, thanks to Lynndan for replying personally; I now know a bit more about him, especially the fact that he is a poster known over a long time to many readers here and can therefore be relied on to write truthfully. Although I have only been a writer here for a short while, I have been on various other discussion forums about other places and know that there is a fine line between using these boards for the purpose of information exchange, hotels, bars etc, and the rather more social need of having somewhere online to visit daily and have a natter about things. ( I guess I am doing that now)
Personally, I dont always find that healthy, and a degree of cynicism can grow which encourages slightly barbed messages to be posted towards certain posters and topics.
Its interesting to see how the thread about a gang of young lads wanting to visit Goa (which may or may not have been a wind up) has been allowed by the moderators to descend into a bit of a 'Oh my Goodness, I hope they arent there when we are' rant.
Having said that, I do have the feeling that the message board is well moderated by people who care about its quality so if I have said anything on this topic about Lynddon that has upset, then apologies. Perhaps Lynddon can make use of the many friends he clearly has on the board and travel with them next time out for company and support. The lads I talked about above might even take him along to the Mupsa go go bar they keep banging on about. Keep writing Lynndon, thanks for coming back to me and sorry about my first post.

Not much I can add really Danny except to say that I think you are extremely brave having come through this and re-telling the horrors to your friends on the forum. I'm sorry about what has happened to you, unfortunately this is the way that Goa is going and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.
Keep your chin up GFF xxxx
