Eeeh how strange was just thinking of you today Pat. Glad to hear your enjoying yourselves and well done you with your Portuguese (all those visits and lessons have paid off)
Glynis I wish I could get the jist of this difficult language, I think being with the locals on a regular basis helps tremendously as some of the books/CD's arnt good. I showed my Portuguese neighbour a book 2 weeks ago and he laughed at it, saying not many locals would understand that, and began to tell me how it should be said which was completely different than the book.Thinks Pat should start a topic on online holidaytruths basic Portuguese language course with her expertise.
I agree Jay - our Pat is a true inspiration
Dave.
P S did Pat ever find any nice restaurants in Tavira for me to try when I get there in July?
boa noite.
Holidaymaker she isnt home from Portugal until this Saturday.
Shame about the weather being not so great, but I am sure you managed to have a good time anyway. Can't beleive how quickly that six weeks has gone.

I don't think she's back yet, is she?
Opps ! Think because I saw noticed her posting I asumed she was back.
Home this Saturday Doe,from her posting.
Smile - the sun is out at last!
Too soon coming out next week
Real holidaymaker, we liked the restaurant as you go over the pedestrian bridge and through the archway on your immediate left (think it is called Arco??). Also A Bica which again is across the pedestrian bridge, heading towards the small square and then it is on the street to your right. As we were staying in Cabanas, we tended to eat there.
We really enjoyed our travels and the 7 weeks flew in. We did notice a BIG difference in prices but mainly 'cos 1 euro = £1. We found the most expensive place to eat or drink was in Lagos (although we did try the Havanenza, Sagres).
Found a new great place to eat dead cheap but great food in Cabanas......roll on June.....
Pat
Welcome back Pat, not long before the next journey, are you on a countdown?
As always, Jayjan!!! When are you next over....we go 1st 15th June and then 17th Sept - 1st Oct....any chance of meeting????
Pat we are going mid May for 9 days and then 11th to 20th September. Maybe chance we could meet in September then. Yes the poor old car has gone to the scrapyard, just glad it didnt let us down if we had been far away from Albufeira, luckily we where more or less on the doorstep, just the hassle of finding someone to tow it away and scrap it.
I don't suppose you'll have noticed if the new developments have made much of an increase in holidaymakers to Cabanas? I'm thinking that if everywhere accommodation wise is full then the strain on the restaurants/bars could be an issue? I remember the last time we were in Cabanas and sometimes the restaurants were really busy and this was before the new development at the back was complete.
Most of these apartments are permanently empty, so I can't see the place being "full".
I have a new place for you to try, it has just opened and it's great value.
I will send you all the details later on before you go.
Pat
We're going for 3 weeks this time and will have the car as usual so will be out and about most of the time. Of course it's the evenings when everyone is back in resort when it gets busy - but am sure we'll manage somehow. One thing about the Brits - we don't mind eating early on so we can either book a table or just go out early. We sometimes grab our main evening meal when we get back after our day out as we just want to eat and chill and can't be bothered with getting ready just to go out to eat so am sure we'll be fine.
